The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) provides formulas for treating genital ulceration.
**Formula for Genital Ulceration**
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 liang), Diyu (Cortex Sanguisorbae, 3 liang), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparated with Honey, processed by roasting), Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, 2 liang), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba or Rubra, 2 liang).
Chop the above five herbs. Decoct in 5 sheng of water to obtain 2 sheng of liquid. Wash the affected area with this decoction, three times daily and once at night.
**Another Formula**
Puhuang (Pollen Typhae, 1 sheng), Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum, 1 liang).
Grind the above two ingredients into powder and apply it topically to the lesion.
**Yet Another Formula**
Take 30 jin of fatty pork. Boil in 3 shi of water until cooked. Remove the meat residue. Pour the broth into a basin and soak the affected area. Replace the liquid as needed, not exceeding two or three changes. (Both cited from Volume 3)
**Cui Shi’s Washing and Compressing Decoction for Genital Ulceration**
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparated with Honey, processed by roasting), Ganqi (Resina Taxodi), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba or Rubra), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), each 2 liang; Guijia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, processed by roasting), 5 liang.
Chop the above seven herbs. Decoct in 7 sheng of water until reduced to half volume. Strain the dregs. Soak cotton cloth in the decoction and apply as a compress to the ulcerated area. Leave on for a considerable time before replacing. Apply twice daily. During each application, walk approximately ten li. When the compress dries, take Ganshi San (Sweet Moisture Powder) and apply a thin layer evenly over the ulcer. Maintain this for half a day, then reapply the decoction compress. After removing the compress, apply the powder again as before. The Ganshi San mentioned consists of six ingredients including Ranshedan (Bile of Python). This formula is recorded in the previous volume dealing with damp-heat conditions. My family's maid suffered from this disease; numerous treatments failed. The erosion developed into two ulcers, half an cun deep. I consulted Juanzi's prescriptions and found this Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction). I prepared the Ranshedan San (Python Bile Powder) myself. Within seven days, the ulcers healed completely. It was highly effective. I saved eighteen people in total. Those encountering this disease are urged to widely disseminate this prescription. (Cited from Volume 10)
**Highly Effective Formula for Frequent Use in Treating Gan Disease**
Ranshedan (Bile of Python, authentic, ground), Qingmuxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Shiliuhuang (Sulfur, ground), Tiejing (Ferrum), Shexiang (Moschus), each 4 fen. Old prescriptions also included Toad (collected on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month). Add Shexiang (Moschus) temporarily according to necessity, because Moschus repels snake venom; if mixed beforehand, the potency of the Python bile will be diminished.
Mix the above six ingredients in equal proportions. Pound and sieve into a powder, then grind finely. For patients, take an amount equivalent to three chess pieces, mixed with Hua Shui (Flower Water). Take twice daily. After ingestion, ensure the patient has defecated first. Then fumigate the lower part using the following Peach Twig method. Subsequently, place an amount of powder equivalent to two chess pieces into a bamboo tube and insufflate it deeply into the lower orifice. Also do this twice daily. Reduce dosage for elderly and children. Fumigation is performed once daily and does not need repetition. This method is very good.
**Formula for Treating Gan Parasites Eroding the Lower Part and Five Zang Organs**
Take thirty-seven branches of peach wood growing towards the southeast. Lightly beat the tips to loosen them. Wrap loosely with cotton. Grind Shiliuhuang (Sulfur) into powder. Dip the cotton-wrapped peach twig into the powder, twisting it to coat the tip thickly. Cut a short bamboo tube and insert it into the lower orifice. Ignite the drug-coated peach twig and use it to fumigate the area. (Both cited from Volume 3)
**Wenzhong’s Formula for Severe Genital Erosion**
Chanfu (Excrement of Bufo bufo gargarizans) and Tusishi (Excrement of Lepus capensis) in equal proportions. Grind into powder and apply topically. This is effective.
**Yelangya Tang (Wild Wolf Tooth Decoction) from *Gujin Luyan* for Women’s Genital Ulceration with Painful Rotting**
Yelangya (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii or similar, 3 liang). Crush. Decoct in 4 sheng of water until reduced to half a sheng. Strain the dregs. Add Kujiu (Vinegar) equivalent to the size of one chicken egg yolk. Boil until bubbling. Adjust to a suitable temperature. Soak cotton in the decoction and drip/dab onto the ulcer. Apply four to five times daily until healed.
