The *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept Up the Sleeve) methods for treating centipede bites.
Cut the rooster's comb, take the blood and apply it to the affected area; this will cure it. (*Beiji Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang*, *Bixiao Fang* contain identical content after removing redundancies.)
Another prescription:
Chew salt and apply it to the affected area; this is effective. Also, wipe the wound with salt so that if the centipede has not moved far away, it cannot escape. (*Beiji Fang*, *Dujuan Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang*, *Gujin Luyan Fang* contain identical content.)
Another prescription:
Chew garlic or small garlic, or use mulberry white bark juice, and apply it to the affected area. It is also good to apply the soil from the sole of a hemp shoe. (*Dujuan Fang*, *Beiji Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang*, *Bixiao Fang*, *Gujin Luyan Fang* contain identical content.)
Another prescription:
Applying Sheyan Cao (Omphalodes japonica) to seal the wound is excellent.
The *Beiji Fang* methods for treating centipede bites.
Soak the affected area in Lan Zhi (Isatis root juice); it will cure immediately. Centipede bites are not severe; they differ slightly from bee stings, being lighter than bee stings, causing only slight pain initially which subsides easily. If unfortunately bitten, one can fortunately rely on this treatment. Herbalists usually use centipedes with red feet; however, nowadays, centipedes with red feet cause more pain than those with yellow feet because their venom is more potent. (*Zhang Wenzhong's Zhouhou Fang* contains identical content.)
Another prescription:
Take soil from inside the house, mix it with water, and apply it as a poultice. (*Dujuan Fang* contains identical content.)
Cui Shi's method for treating centipede bites.
Drive a rooster to walk around, and use the breath from its beak to blow onto the wound. Change the rooster several times until it cures.
Zhang Wenzhong's method for treating centipede bites.
Take tin, heat it up, and use it to moxibustion/iron the affected area. It will cure within no more than ten applications. (From Volume 10)

The *Jiyan Fang* method for treating scorpion insect stings.
I personally experienced this toxicity; the pain in my fingers was unbearable, and all methods failed. Someone saw this and instructed me to soak my finger in cold water, and even the whole hand. The pain stopped immediately. When the water became slightly warm, the pain returned. So I soaked it in cold water again, changing it when it warmed slightly. I soaked the rest of the body parts in cold water and covered them with old cloth. This is truly very effective. (*Zhouhou Fang*, *Beiji Fang*, *Qianjin Fang*, *Bixiao Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang* contain identical content.)
Another prescription:
Scorpions have males and females. The pain from a male scorpion is localized in one spot, while the pain from a female scorpion radiates to various places. If it is a male, apply mud from the bottom of a well to the affected area; change it when it warms up. If it is a female, apply mud from under the eaves and ditches. If there is no rain, draw fresh water from the roof and let it run down, then collect the mud underneath to apply.
Another prescription:
Draw a cross on the ground, take the soil from the intersection, mix with water, and take orally using a 'fen bi' measure. (All from Volume 1)
The *Qianjin Fang* method for treating scorpion venom.
Apply leftover rice from between teeth to the affected area, then seal it with pig fat, and further seal it with Yeshen (Belamcanda chinensis).
Another prescription:
Mix Shazhen (Cinnabar or Sand, context implies a mineral/herb mix) with water and apply; it heals. (*Jiuji Fang* contains identical content.)
Regarding all creatures that sting with venom: when you see them, do not harbor disgust or look at them with ill intent, and do not kill them. If you arbitrarily kill them, you will surely be stung later. Be extremely cautious. Even if treated, it may be difficult to cure.
Another prescription:
Chew Zhuyu (Evodia fruit) and apply it to seal the wound; it heals immediately.
Another prescription:
Use raw Wutou (Aconitum carmichaelii) powder, mix with saliva, and apply; this is good.
Cui Shi's method for treating scorpion stings.
Take Renshen (Panax ginseng), chew it, and apply to the painful area; it cures immediately. Also apply Huangdan (Red Lead) to cure.
Another prescription:
Deeply shave Guixin (Cinnamon twig heart), grind with vinegar, and apply; the pain stops immediately.
Another prescription:
Drip hot wax from a candle onto the stung area; change it two or three times. (All from Volume 5)
The *Beiji Fang* method for treating scorpion stings.
Shuhuihua (Hibiscus mutabilis flower), Shiliuhua (Pomegranate flower), Aixin (Mugwort heart).
Take equal parts of these three ingredients on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month at noon. Dry them in the shade, mix, and crush. Mix with water and apply to the stung area; the pain stops immediately. Pick the flowers before they bloom. (*Zhang Wenzhong Fang* contains identical content.)
Another prescription:
Soak in warm water. (*Zhouhou Fang*, *Cui Shi Fang* contain identical content.)
Another prescription:
Apply Machixian Cai (Portulaca oleracea) to seal the wound; it cures. (*Zhouhou Beiji Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang* contain identical content.)
Another prescription:
Chew Ganjiang (Dried Ginger) and apply to the wound; it cures. (*Zhouhou Beiji Fang*, *Wenzhong Fang* contain identical content, all from Volume 8)
The *Bixiao Fang* method for treating scorpion bites.
Soak in warm wine. Also, crush Douchi (Fermented Soybeans) into cakes the size of a coin, place on the stung area, and apply moxibustion seven times. Ask the bitten person what creature bit them; if they report it was a scorpion, tell them "there is no suffering." After speaking, privately flip a tile and return it to its original place without letting the person know. Ask again if cured; if reported as cured, the pain stops. This is miraculous.
The *Gujin Luyan Fang* method for treating scorpion stings.
Chew Ku Li Zi Ren (Bitter Apricot Seed) and apply to seal the wound; it cures immediately.
Another prescription:
Sheyan Cao (Omphalodes japonica), take the juice and apply to the affected area; it cures.
Another prescription:
Use a wooden bowl to cover the stung area completely; it cures miraculously.
Another prescription:
Guizhen Cao (Bidens pilosa), take the juice and apply; it cures immediately.
Another prescription:
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, harvest Tu Kui (Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides), crush it thoroughly, and apply all over the hands. Wash hands only at noon the next day. If someone else is stung, rub the affected area with your hand; it cures instantly.
Another method to prohibit scorpion stings:
Recite a spell: "Xi (pronounced Hu Ji Fan) Li Hu Ju Shang Su Po He, on the fifth day of the fifth month, Tu Kui in the north shade of a mulberry tree. At true noon, take seven steps to the Tu Kui, place right knee on ground, stand left knee, hand takes Tu Kui seeds. Chew the seeds thoroughly in mouth, spit into hand, mix with five-leaf Tu Kui grass. If no seeds, directly take two leaves and mix in hand. Rotate left, silently recite the previous spell seven times, one exhalation counts as 108 repetitions, stop when juice comes out from leaves staining hands. Return leaves to Tu Kui place, rise without looking back. Do not wash hands for one day and night, nor dirty the hand. Do not let others know, perform this method unseen by others. If the bitten asks where, silently recite the spell seven times. Males use left hand to rub the stung area, saying 'illness go'. If privately transplanting Tu Kui to the north of mulberry, five-leaf grass is available everywhere."
Furthermore, Zhen Liyan considers this scorpion venom to belong to the category of Yin Snakes, not like bees or centipedes. Some are mildly tolerable, while some are intolerable after a day and night. The capital city is particularly abundant in these insects. Various medicines applied could not produce immediate effects, so he followed the Jue Fa (cupping/horn therapy) method. He mentally designed bamboo horns, keeping one section three to four cun long, with an aperture of four to five fen. For fingers, fine bamboo could be used, just fitting the stung area. For fingers, larger horns were used because air leakage prevents suction; thus, larger horns are preferred as stronger suction leads to faster recovery. Make four or five pieces, boil thoroughly in a pan, and use the horn to suck the stung area. Replace when cool. Initially, prick the stung area with a needle to bleed, then apply the horn. To prevent heat from damaging flesh, briefly dip the horn's opening in cold water for two to three fen before applying. This method is miraculous. One must not use mouth suction, as poison may enter
