The *Guangji* (Broad Aid) formula for treating metallic injuries (Jinchuang), promoting muscle regeneration, resolving blood stasis, tonifying deficiency and fatigue, eliminating sores, and lightening the body: Zige Tang (Purple Kudzu Decoction).
Take three handfuls of Zige (Pueraria thomsonii), finely chopped. Boil in three large sheng (approx. 600ml) of flowing river water until reduced to one sheng and two he (approx. 240ml). Strain the dregs. Take divided into three doses on an empty stomach. If the decoction has cooled, mix with one large sheng of wine and two sheng of water, and re-boil until reduced to one large sheng. (From Volume 6 of *Guangji*)
Fan Wang’s formula for metallic injuries causing internal obstruction and pain, promoting muscle growth: San Powder.
Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis, honey-fried), Rongcongrou (Cistanche deserticola), Xiongsu (Ligusticum chuanxiong), Shaoyao (Paeonia lactiflora), Shujiao (Zanthoxylum bungeanum, stir-fried until oil appears), Wuzhuyu (Evodia rutaecarpa), Ganjiang (Zingiber officinale, dried), Guixin (Cinnamomum cassia bark).
Baiji (Bletilla striata), Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus), Houpo (Magnolia officinalis), Renshen (Panax ginseng).
Grind the above thirteen ingredients in equal proportions into a powder. Administer one fangcun bi (approx. 5-10g) with wine, three times daily. Observe dietary restrictions as stated in previous formulas.
Another formula for metallic injuries promoting muscle regeneration: Baigao (White Ointment).
Baizhi (Angelica dahurica, 1 liang 6 zhu), Dihuang (Rehmannia glutinosa, dried, 1.5 liang), Xiongsu (Ligusticum chuanxiong, 1 liang 6 zhu), Gancao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis, half liang, honey-fried), Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Bailing (Ampelopsis japonica), Fuzi (Aconitum carmichaelii, processed, each 18 zhu, peeled), Shujiao (Zanthoxylum bungeanum, 2.5 he, stir-fried until oil appears).
Chop the above eight ingredients. Simmer together with five jin (approx. 2.5kg) of lard using the "three ups and three downs" method (boiling, removing from heat, and repeating three times). Strain the dregs. Apply to the wound twice daily. Observe dietary restrictions as stated in previous formulas. (From Volume 95 of *Guangji*)
The *Gujin Luyan* (Ancient and Modern Verified Records) formula for metallic injuries promoting muscle regeneration: San Powder.
