Jiyan Fang's Ji Zi Wan Prescription for Treating Long Worms (Ascaris).
Egg white (three units), Dried Qianxi (Caulis Spatholobi, four liang, processed by frying; omitted in another version), La (animal fat, three liang), Jingmi Fen (Rice Flour, half jin).
Place the above four ingredients in a copper vessel. Simmer over a gentle fire, stirring until well blended. Add rice flour to coagulate into a form suitable for pills. Place on earth to keep warm, then add egg whites and stir until integrated. Simmer again until pill-formable. Fast overnight before administration. Take 120 pills the size of small beans with water, or 50 pills for children. This yields effective results.
Another prescription:
Take Dongshi (fruits of Quercus variabilis), soak them in pure Kujiu (vinegar) for two nights. Wrap in cotton cloth and insert into the anus to a depth of approximately three cun. Change once daily. (Identical to prescriptions in Qianjin Fang and Fan Wang's works, both from Volume 9).
Regarding Ascaris in Bingyuan (Source of Diseases):
Ascaris is one of the Nine Worms. It is about one chi long, sometimes five or six cun. It may be activated due to weakness of the fu and zang organs, or due to consumption of sweet and fatty foods. When active, it causes abdominal pain, with the pain moving up and down and gathering/scattering irregularly. There may be intervals of relief, but it can also attack the heart causing pain. The patient often drools and vomits clear fluid. Qi rebels upward causing heart pain.
Guangji Fang's Prescription for Treating Ascaris:
Suan Shiliugen (Root bark of Punica granatum, specifically the part growing eastward and entering soil five cun, chopped, two sheng), Binglang (Areca Seed, ten pieces, crushed).
Boil the above two ingredients in seven sheng of water until reduced to two and a half sheng. Strain and remove dregs. Add a small amount of rice and cook into a thin porridge. Eat this on an empty stomach in the morning. The worms will die shortly after and be expelled through diarrhea. The effect is reliable without contraindications. (From Volume 4).
Zhouhou Fang's Prescription for Treating Ascaris Attacking the Heart like Thorns, with Clear Fluid Vomiting:
Take Longdan Gen (Radix Gentianae) as needed. Boil in water to make a concentrated decoction. Strain and remove dregs. Fast overnight. Take one to two sheng in the morning. No more than two doses are needed to expel the worms.
Another prescription:
Take roots of Liumu (Melia azedarach) bearing fruit, chop them, and boil in water to obtain a thick, dark red-black juice. Cook this juice with rice to make a paste. Fast overnight. In the morning, eat a piece of fragrant fatty meat first to attract the worms' heads out of their hiding places. Start with a small dose, gradually increasing to one bi (a spoonful measure), up to half a sheng, which will expel the worms. (Identical to Qianjin Fang and Wen Zhong's works).
Another prescription:
Take one egg, open the top, remove the yolk. Mix a small amount of high-quality Qi (lacquer/resin) into the egg white. Swallow while tilting the head back. All worms will be expelled. (Identical to Wen Zhong, Jiyan, and Beiji Qianjin Yaofang, all from Volume 2).
Jiyan Fang's Prescription for Ascaris Attacking the Heart and Causing Abdominal Pain:
Take Yiyi Gen (Root of Coix lacryma-jobi) two jin, chop it. Boil in seven sheng of water until reduced to three sheng. Consume the entire amount before meals. The worms will die and be completely expelled. (Identical to Qianjin Fang and Fan Wang's works, both from Volume 9).
Qianjin Fang's Prescription for Treating Ascaris:
Take Lu Gen (Rhizoma Phragmitis), sift it, and mix with cake/bread to take a fangcunbi (square-inch spoonful) dose. The worms will be expelled unknowingly. This also treats Oxyuris vermicularis (pinworms). (Zhouhou records: Lu Gen one liang, powdered, mixed with mutton meat to take, from Volume 18).
Cui Shi's Prescription for Treating Ascaris:
Take juice from Canlong (silkworm pupae during reeling). Drink on an empty stomach for good results. If not during the reeling season, collect pupae, dry them, have the patient crush and sift them. Adjust the dosage appropriately and take with porridge soup.
Another prescription:
Heshen (Herba Pyrethri, three liang).
Crush the single ingredient into powder. Select either fatty pork or mutton. Make a juice/concoction using Congshi (Scallion and Fermented Soybean). Every morning on an empty stomach, mix one fangcunbi of the powder with the Congshi juice and take in one dose.
Bixiao Fang's Prescription for Treating Ascaris:
Lvdou (Mung Bean) three sheng, boil to obtain a concentrated juice. Maziren (Semen Cannabis) one large sheng, grind to extract one sheng or less of juice. Then mix half a sheng of hemp seed juice with one sheng of bean juice. Warm and drink.
