[Pathogenesis] Cunbai Chong (Taenia saginata, Beef Tapeworm) is one of the Nine Worms. It is one cun in length, white in color, and has a small, flat shape. It arises due to the weakness of the Zang-Fu organs. Some say it is caused by drinking Baijiu (Chinese liquor) and eating beef roasted on mulberry branches, or by consuming raw fish; furthermore, drinking milk and cheese immediately after eating raw fish can also lead to its formation. When it manifests, it damages the person's Jing-Qi (Essence and Qi), causing pain and weakness in the waist and legs. It is also said that if this worm grows to one chi in length, it will cause death. (From Volume 18)
Guangji Fang treats Bai Chong (White Worms) that are as large as Ma Lin Ye (Iris ensata leaf), protruding from the lower orifice but not fully expelled, and cut off with a knife, which causes the person to gradually become emaciated. Use Shiliu Tang (Pomegranate Decoction).
Cu Shiliu Gen (Root of Pomegranate, specifically those growing eastward, one large handful) Wuyi (Fructus Myrobalani, 3 liang) Qianniu Zi (Semen Phytolaccae, half liang, stir-fried and powdered).
Take the above three ingredients, add six sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng, remove the dregs, and divide into three doses. Separately mix the Qianniu Zi powder. For each dose, administer again after the time it takes for a person to walk five li, until rapid purging occurs, ensuring all worms die and are expelled. Avoid raw and cold foods, pork, beef, mutton, Baijiu, Kua Cai (Chinese cabbage), and Sun (bamboo shoots). This formula is miraculous.
Another prescription:
Yelang Ya (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii) Bailian (Rhizoma Ampelopsis Japonicae) (each 4 fen) Wuyi (6 fen).
Pulverize the above three ingredients. On an empty stomach, mix with abundant vinegar to form a paste, take warm in one dose. No dietary restrictions apply. (Same as Qianjin Fang, from Volume 4)
Zhouhou Fang treats Bai Chong.
Chun Qi (Pure Lacquer, 3 he) Zhu Xue (Pig Blood, 3 he).
Mix the above two ingredients and simmer over low heat until non-sticky. Do not eat the night before. On the morning of an empty stomach, first eat one slice of fat and fragrant dried meat, then ingest 100 pills the size of soybeans. By noon, all worms should be expelled. This also treats Hui Chong (Ascaris lumbricoides). (Same as Fan Wang's prescription)
Another prescription:
Decoct pork juice strongly, add thirty pieces of Bing Lang (Areca Seed), decoct to obtain three sheng, and take orally. All worms will be expelled. (Same as Wen Zhong's Beiji Fang)
Another prescription:
Thoroughly cook pig lard and pig blood. Do not eat the night before. Eat full on the next morning, and the worms will descend and be expelled. (Same as Wen Zhong's Beiji Fang, from Volume 2)
Fan Wang treats Bai Chong using Jupi Wan (Tangerine Peel Pill).
Jupi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 4 fen) Yazi (Note: Textual error likely, possibly Feizi/Shelled Castor Bean seed contextually, kept as Yazi per source) Wuyi (each 6 fen).
Pulverize and sieve the above three ingredients. Mix with honey to make pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills with Jiang Shui (fermented rice liquid) before meals, twice daily.
Another prescription:
Yelang Ya (5 liang).
Pulverize and sieve this single ingredient. Mix with honey to make pills the size of sesame seeds. Do not eat the night before. On the next morning, take one he with Jiang Shui on an empty stomach. Cure upon completion.
Another prescription:
Lian Shi (Fructus Meliae Toosendan), break open to extract the seeds inside the skin. Pulverize. Mix with honey to make pills the size of Sophora seeds. Do not eat the night before. In the morning, take 300 pills with Vinegar Jiang Shui or Rice Water. All worms will die or decompose. The bark can also be made into pills; take 80 pills. Restrictions follow standard methods. (From Volume 19)
Beiji Fang treats Bai Chong using Wuyi San (Myrobalan Powder).
Yelang Ya (3 fen, prepared by roasting) Wuyi (2 fen).
Pulverize the above two ingredients. Mix with wine and take. After eating dried meat, take the entire dose at once for immediate cure. (Same as Zhang Wenzhong's prescription, from Volume 6)
Jiuji Fang treats Bai Chong.
Shiliu Zhi (Branches of Pomegranate tree, east-growing, one handful, remove bark) Bing Lang (7 pieces).
Add two large sheng of water to the above two ingredients, decoct to obtain slightly more than half a sheng, and take in one dose. Before taking the medicine, chew Lu Fu (Deer Jerky) and swallow the juice, then administer the medicine. Taking the medicine on the 1st or 2nd day of the lunar month ensures cure, as the worm heads face upward. Taking it after the 3rd day is ineffective because the worm heads face downward. If intending to take the medicine today, do not eat the previous day. After taking the medicine, the worms may be expelled via diarrhea or dissolved internally; both result in cure. Avoid raw sashimi, Baijiu, and all raw/cold meats for over a month.
Another prescription:
Take 100 Fei Zi (Castor Seeds), peel them, roast them over fire, and eat. Finishing them is best; if unable, eating 50 is sufficient. After one night, the worms dissolve and pass naturally. No restrictions. (Same as Cui Shi's prescription, from Volume 8)
Cui Shi's prescription for cases where other Bai Chong treatments fail:
Take the east-growing root of Pomegranate. Have the patient grip it with the thumb and third finger, keeping the parts extending beyond the hands. Also take a piece of fat dried meat the size of a hand.

Another prescription:
Dong Yin Zhuyu Gen (East-growing Root of Cornus officinalis, one large handful, sliced) Maziren (Hemp Seed, half large sheng).
Pulverize the Hemp Seed extremely finely first. Then grind thoroughly in a basin. Add one large sheng of water, mix and grind again, strain to obtain thick juice. Soak the Zhuyu Root overnight. In the morning...

Qianjin Fang treats Bai Chong.
Take 49 Fei Zi (Castor Seeds), peel them. On the morning of the first ten days of the lunar month, take seven pills on an empty stomach. Finish within seven days. The worms dissolve into water, resulting in permanent cure.
Another prescription:
Take the root of Cornus officinalis grown in northern shade. Wash, remove soil, and slice. Soak in one sheng of wine overnight. Remove dregs at dawn, divide into two doses. For all Cornus officinalis, use fine roots from the northeast shaded area. Roots thicker than a finger are inferior and less effective. (Same as Fan Wang's prescription)
Another prescription:
Roast Tin until dry, pulverize. At dawn, prepare Mutton Soup, add one fang cun bi (square-inch spoonful) of the medicine to the soup, and take. Another method uses Ao Hu Fen (Calcined Lead White).
Another prescription:
Cut Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori Radicis) to three sheng. Add seven sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng. Do not eat the night before. Take in one dose on the next morning.
Another prescription:
Use Shiliu Gen (Pomegranate Root) as per the method for Zhuyu Gen.
Another prescription:
Hu Ma (Sesamum indicum L., one sheng) Hu Fen (Lead Carbonate/White Lead, one liang).
Pulverize the above two ingredients. On the next morning, take on an empty stomach with Pork Juice until finished. Immediate cure. (All from Volume 18)
