The *Gujin Luyan* states: After drinking alcohol, the "stone heat" (alcohol and its metabolites) spreads through the meridians, causing qi strength to overflow. The kidney qi becomes firm and vigorous, leading to frequent erections. Excessive sexual activity damages kidney qi; when kidney qi is deficient, heat arises in the upper body. When heat is excessive, it causes fullness below the heart, dry mouth and tongue, vomiting after drinking, and disharmony of the stomach fu. It is appropriate to take Gegen Yin (Kudzu Drink) to nourish grain qi and eliminate mental heat.
If heat is excessive and fills the meridians, with slight distension in the heart and abdomen, a sensation of persistent fullness below the heart that sometimes gathers into a hard mass and then dissipates, Qinjiao Tang (Gentian Decoction) is appropriate.
Take Qinjiao (3 liang, finely cut), boil in one sheng of beef milk until reduced to one sheng, strain, and take at once. If diarrhea occurs, the disease will heal. For the elderly or weak, adjust the dose according to physical strength. Diet should be clear and cool; turbid and hot foods must be avoided, as they cause the "stone heat" to become obstructed and stagnant, leading to vomiting and hard accumulations. This may also cause jaundice or dark red urine. If there is hardness and pain below the heart, Qinjiao Tang is also appropriate. Once loose stools occur and the pathogenic heat dissipates, the illness heals. Even if yellow discoloration covers the skin, this is a sign of recovery; do not be alarmed.
If the heat resolves but the cold remains, drink three he of warm wine to resolve it.
If after the cold resolves, there is heavy head, tinnitus, blurred vision, and pain below the heart, drink about two he of clear wine for recovery. Cold and warm conditions should be managed according to these methods.
If there is hardness and fullness below the heart, abdominal distension, and difficulty in urination and defecation, urgently administer Qianhu Dahuang Tang (Peucedanum and Rhubarb Decoction) to purge. See the lower volume under "Methods for Strangury."
If there is a tendency toward mania or abnormal behavior due to phlegm-heat, administer Baiwei Tang (Cynanchum Atratum Decoction) to purge. See the lower volume under "Methods for Phlegm-Dry Vomiting."
If the wine-heat subsides and the "stone heat" no longer circulates, and the heat accumulation below the heart has dissipated, even if jaundice persists without discomfort, one should consume chilled drinks and foods. Avoid spicy dishes and warming tonics. If one does not wish to eat cool foods, warm them slightly, but do not make them too hot.
If after drinking hot wine, the "stone heat" becomes deficient, and upon swallowing food, one feels as if cold water is entering the meridians, this indicates that both the wine and stone heat have retreated.
If there is dizziness, auditory hallucinations (hearing voices in the air), timidity, fear, anxiety, palpitations, limb numbness, or sudden fright upon waking or sleeping, feeling as if chased by tigers or wolves, or oppressed by a menacing aura:
Administer Danzhuli Ye (Bamboo Sap) one to two sheng, up to three sheng, until the illness ceases. Alternatively, administer Baiwei Tang to purge. Observe the condition and allow porridge consumption. Frequently administer Jixin Suanzao Tang (Chicken Heart and Sour Jujube Decoction) when appetite returns. Ensure companionship and comfort from a spouse, using pleasant words to soothe. Do not startle with frightening events.
Furthermore, Jixin Suanzao Tang treats post-drinking excess yang, kidney deficiency with fever, prolonged anorexia, empty heat in the stomach, constant desire for food, qi entering the hundred vessels, extreme heart deficiency, and resulting behavioral abnormalities. (From *Gujin Luyan*)
Ingredients: Chicken hearts (10 pieces), Suanzaoren (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, half sheng), Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 1 liang), Fushen (Poria Cum Radix), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, 2 liang each), Baiwei (Radix Cynanchi Atrati), Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, roasted), Zhimu (Radix Anemarrhenae).
Cut the above eleven ingredients. Boil in ten dou of water until half-cooked, add chicken hearts, and continue boiling until three sheng of liquid remain. Cool and divide into three doses.
