This condition is extremely dangerous, and its harm is most rapid. If it arises in the areas of the face, eyes, nose, or ears, it is obvious; if it arises in the shoulders or feet where covered by clothing, it is hidden and difficult to know. Those who perceive it early may be cured by evening if treated in the morning; those who realize it late often die in vain, which is the meaning of "open spears are easy to guard against, but hidden arrows are hard to defend." Therefore, if women suffer from hidden Ding (carbuncle/furuncle), until it is discovered, it is often mistaken for Shanghan (Cold Damage syndrome), causing the toxin to attack the heart and leading to Zouhuang (spreading yellow/toxin invasion) which is incurable. "Huang" refers to the toxin. For example, if a blister appears on the head, face, lips, nose, shoulders, arms, hands, or feet, and is purple-red or yellow-black, it is a Ding (carbuncle). At the initial stage, prick and squeeze out the evil blood until good blood appears. Insert Qu Ba Ding San (Extracting Carbuncle Powder), cover with ointment, and the next day the Ding toxin will suppurate and heal. All Ding toxins should take Duo Ming Tang (Life-Snatching Decoction).
On the little arm and lower leg, if a red thread-like line appears, it is Hong Si Ding (Red Thread Carbuncle). The key is to prick the beginning and end of the red thread, allowing the toxin to exit with the blood, resulting in cure; delaying allows the toxin to enter the intestines and stomach, making it incurable. Ma said: Hong Si Ding must have the evil blood pricked out, but one must look carefully; only if there is a red thread extending upward can Bian Shi (stone lancet) be used. Otherwise, it might be Dao Lian Ding (Knife Scythe Carbuncle), and misusing Bian Stone will immediately cause danger, which must not be ignored. Ma said: Duo Ming Tang can be taken after removing Xixin (Asarum).
The lesion is wide like a leek leaf, more than an inch long, with flesh color purple-black. Needles and acupuncture are contraindicated. Take Sheng Fan (Raw Alum) 3 qian, and 7 stalks of white onion, pound them together into a paste, divide into seven pieces, and swallow each piece with scallion water. Keep warm to induce sweating; if no sweat, take more scallion water to promote it, stopping when sweat appears. Apply rotten chicken manure to the lesion for immediate cure. Delaying allows the toxin to sweep through the heart and viscera, causing death. Ma said: Contraindicating needles and acupuncture is very correct. This prescription is also safe and usable. Tao said: For Ding sores suffering from Zouhuang, apply pounded banana root to the site for immediate cure.
When Ding toxin causes swelling and coma, it is called Zouhuang. If at the verge of fainting, urgently take Hui Ding San (Return Carbuncle Powder) 2 qian, taken with boiled water. After a short while, severe pain occurs; pain indicates that rescue is possible. When the toxin transforms into yellow fluid and pain stops, life is saved.
Yangmei Chuang (Syphilis/Kapok Sore), also known as Mian Hua Chuang (Cotton Sore), Guang Dou Chuang, or Guang Chuang, is named after its shape. However, the toxin contracted is no different; resolving the toxin is precious, while fumigation and occlusive application are contraindicated. Occlusive application leads to recurrence and is difficult to treat. At initial onset, take San Huang Wan (Three Yellows Pill), 4 qian every day at Wu Geng (early morning), taken with hot aged wine, drunk until intoxicated, then covered to induce sweat. Alternatively, take Xie Gan Tang (Drain Liver Decoction), taken alternately morning and evening. Ancient texts record using Sheng Yao (Ascend Drug) made into pills, coated with Xionghuang (Realgar), taken with porridge drink, or inserting one medicinal stick, holding cold water in the mouth. Later learners must not avoid this due to lack of medication cost, thereby harming lives and inviting heavenly punishment.
If recurrence occurs due to taking Sheng Yao and fumigating/applying medicinal sticks, within five days, take San Huang Wan daily, and drink Zi Yin Cha (Purple Silver Tea) as needed. If ulcerated, decoct the dregs and wash the lesion twice daily, then continue taking Sheng Ling Dan (Holy Spirit Elixir) to expel all toxins, turning the skin color red and vibrant. Finally, apply Dong Tian Gao (Cave Heaven Ointment) to conclude treatment.
Even for toxins such as Xia Gan (Chancre) and La Zhu Xie (Candle Residue Toxin), they generally do not depart from the aforementioned treatments. If pain is unbearable, take 5 fen of Sheng Ling Dan, which will work after several doses. If ulcerated, wait until the toxin recedes, pain stops, and the color turns red and vibrant, then sprinkle medicine to generate flesh. If the penis remains hard without flaccidity, and white essence flows out, this is Du Jing (Jealous Essence). Take Po Gu Zi (Fructus Psoraleae) and Jiu Cai Zi (Fructus Allii Tuberosi), each 1 liang, powdered. Take 6 qian per dose, decocted in one bowl of water until half a bowl remains, then drink. If healing is seen, stop the medicine; if the toxin is heavy, take Sheng Ling Dan, and recovery is assured.
Ma said: This is the hidden medicine of itinerant quacks; it must never be used.
Ma said: Sheng Yao is refined from Mercury. If mistakenly ingested, the toxin enters the bones, requiring Qing Qian (Lead) and Chuan Jiao (Sichuan Pepper) to resolve it.
