Shenshou Weisheng San: Treats carbuncles, sores on the back (Fabei), brain sores, erysipelas-like tumors, scrofula, malignant hard sores, flowing abscesses caused by damp-phlegm, and all types of surgical sores. Regardless of whether the condition is Yin or Yang, exterior or interior, deficiency or excess, if the sore has not yet formed pus, it will dissipate spontaneously; if pus has already formed, it will ulcerate immediately; if about to ulcerate, residual toxins will clear naturally, and new blood will generate. The efficacy is very rapid, making it truly the first-choice formula for surgery.
Ingredients include: Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) (stir-fried), Shijueming (Concha Haliotidis) (calcined), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (raw, each 1 liang), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (5 qian), plus Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) (each 5 qian).
Grind the above herbs into fine powder and mix evenly. Take 5 qian per dose. Use Guiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Caulis) 1 liang and Huangjiu (Yellow Wine) 2 bowls, decoct until reduced to 0.8 bowl volume, then mix with the powder for oral administration. Pre-decoct Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) 1 liang in a small bowl of water, use this liquid to rinse the mouth and swallow as needed. After taking the medicine, cover oneself with a quilt and lie down, allowing sweat or bowel movements to occur naturally.
This was originally a secret recipe kept by the Xu family, not because they intended to keep it hidden, but because formulas are valued for being simple and accessible; unusual ones attract attention. Just as in military strategy, regular troops are standard, while surprise troops are variable. I dare not keep it secret, nor mix it with previous formulas, so I record it separately. Whether to use regular or surprise methods depends on the practitioner.
Shuangjie Guijin Wan: Treats back carbuncles and various other toxic swellings, presenting with chest stuffiness, hardness, constipation, and a deep, solid pulse.
Ingredients include: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (1 jin), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (10 liang).
Grind into powder and make pills using water. Take 3-5 qian per dose at the third watch (around 1-3 AM). Boil over ten large green onions with roots in one bowl of yellow wine until soft, take the wine to send down the pills. Cover with a quilt and lie down to induce sweating. After two to three hours, pass stool once or twice, and immediate effect is achieved.
This is a formula for promoting circulation and purging accumulation, assisted by green onions and wine to induce sweating, hence called "Double Resolution." For weak patients, subsequently administer Shengliao Sijunzi Tang (Raw Decoction of Four Gentlemen Decoction) to tonify. For elderly or deficient persons, take 1 qian per dose, sent down with a decoction of Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens). One hour later, take another dose. Sleep ensues, with sweating on the upper body; upon waking, it stops.
1. For initial swelling and pain that is unbearable:
Honghua (Carthami Flos), Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) (stir-fried, each 5 qian), Guiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Caulis) (3 qian).
Decoct in 2 zhong of yellow wine until reduced to 1 zhong. Mix with Awei (Asafoetida) 5 fen and Shexiang (Moschus) 5 li, then take orally.
2. For sores occurring in yin areas and mastitis (Ru Yong):
Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) (stir-fried, 3 liang), Niupijiao (Colla Corii Asini) (stir-fried, 5 liang).
Grind into powder and make pills using wine. Take 3-4 qian per dose, sent down with yellow wine. If not yet formed, it dissipates; if formed, it heals spontaneously.
3. For sores that have ulcerated but not penetrated, and internal abscesses:
Zaogelaci (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) (1 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Radix) (5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian), Ruxiang (Olibanum) (1 qian).
Decoct in yellow wine and take orally.
4. For carbuncles and toxic swellings where dead blood and yin toxins accumulate internally causing no pain: Drinking Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) wine and applying it externally induces pain. If pain is caused by emotional stagnation (worry/anger) attacking internally: drinking and applying stops the pain. If heat accumulates internally, making the area hot to the touch: drinking and applying brings cooling. If there is Qi and Blood deficiency with cold, leading to non-healing ulcers, or emotional depression: treatment ensures recovery. Method: Soak Yuanzhi in rice washing water, remove the heart, grind into powder. Take 5 qian per dose, mix with 1 zhong of yellow wine, let settle, drink the clear liquid, and apply the dregs to the affected area. I usually use this wine to mix with symptom-specific medicines for oral administration, and applying the dregs externally is even better.
For Duikou sore (carbuncle on the neck) at onset, regardless of lateral or central position: Burn one snake skin (Shetui) to ash, take with wine. It dissipates immediately.
Fuyuan Tongqi San: Treats mastitis, abdominal abscesses, swollen sores, groin abscesses, ear pain, deafness, caused by obstruction of Qi mechanisms.
Ingredients include: Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) (4 liang), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (4 liang), Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) (2 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (3.5 liang, half raw, half processed), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) (1 liang), Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen) (2 liang), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) (1 liang).
Make into powder or pills. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with yellow wine.
Yueju Wan: Treats toothache, gum pain, mouth and tongue sores, chest and diaphragm fullness/stuffiness, vomiting with acid regurgitation, abdominal distension, leg soreness, etc., mostly caused by the Six Stagnations (Liu Yu). Therefore, it is effective for all such conditions.
Ingredients include: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (stir-fried), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) (stir-fried), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) (stir-fried), Fuxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus) (stir-fried).
Grind equally into powder, make pills using paste, size of paulownia seeds. Take 70 pills per dose, sent down with warm water.
