Tumor of the fetus refers to a swelling that appears on the head, back, chest, or between the breasts immediately after birth, resembling a plum, a li fruit, or a steamed bun in shape. This is caused by blood stasis stagnating during fetal development. It should only be punctured with a needle after the infant has reached one month of age; once red fluid is discharged, the condition will stabilize. Internally administer Wufu Huadu Dan (Five Blessings Detoxifying Pill).
Umbilical ulcer is caused by water-dampness injuring the umbilicus. If it persists without healing, it may trigger convulsions due to external invasion by wind pathogen, raising concern of transformation into wind-epilepsy. Apply ash from dried toad burned to cinders to the affected area. Alternatively, add calcined alum, or further add dragon bone. Another option is to mix equal parts of ash from old cotton and the medication, adding a small amount of musk powder for application.
Umbilical herniation presents as swelling, redness, and flaccid enlargement. It results from maternal neglect in nourishment, leading to accumulated heat affecting the fetus. The mother's constitution should be regulated, and internal heat cleared. External applications are unnecessary and may cause harm. However, if after ten days the swelling suddenly resembles inflation without redness, producing a slight sound upon palpation, accompanied by fright and crying, Baishao Yao Tang (White Peony Root Decoction) with Coicis Semen (Yiyiren, 薏苡仁) should be administered. Externally apply Waixiaosan (External Dissolving Powder).
Baishao Yao Tang: Treats umbilical herniation and cold hernia-induced abdominal pain.
Ingredients: Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao, 白芍药, 1 liang), Rhizoma Alismatis (Zexie, 泽泻, 5 qian), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao, 甘草, 1.2 qian), Cortex Cinnamomi Tenuis (Bo Gui, 薄桂, 3 qian, coarse bark removed, crushed).
Usage: Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Take on an empty stomach. For pain below the umbilicus, add Uncaria rhynchophylla (Gouteng, 钩藤), fresh ginger, and salt.
Waixiaosan: Treats crying due to umbilical herniation and edema of the scrotal skin bag caused by damp-heat.
Ingredients: Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang, 大黄), Concha Ostreae (Muli, 牡蛎, 5 qian each), Natrii Sulfas (Puxiao, 朴硝, 2 qian).
Preparation: Grind into fine powder. Wash a field snail thoroughly, keep it in half a bowl of clear water overnight. Collect the water the next day to mix with the powder for topical application. Return the snail to the water unharmed for efficacy.
Scrotal skin bag cyst: Decoct seeds of Plantago asiatica (Cheqianzi, 车前子), cool the liquid, and apply topically.
Yin swelling refers to enlargement of the scrotum, historically termed "tuonang" (scrotal detachment). It is caused by prolonged sitting in cold, damp places, leading to invasion by wind-cold pathogens. Occasionally, anger and shouting cause qi closure, resulting in accumulation in the lower body; Taoren Wan (Peach Kernel Pill) is the primary treatment. If cold pathogen lodges in the Jueyin and Shaoyin meridians, symptoms include scrotal swelling and pain, abdominal pain, cold sweats, and retraction of the testes into the abdomen, returning only when pain subsides; this is called "neidiao" (internal hanging). Wumei San (Olive Powder) and Yunqi San (Qi-Balancing Powder) are indicated. If the penis is completely retracted and invisible, or if there is non-retracted but shiny, dry-free, painless scrotal swelling, this indicates deficiency of liver and kidney qi; decoct Juglandis Semen Pericarpium (Juhe, 橘核) to take with Yunqi San. If scrotal and limb swelling occur alongside difficulty in urination and defecation, it is due to heat accumulation in the bladder combined with wind-heat; Sanbai San (Three Whites Powder) is indicated. For female infants with vulvar swelling, caused by transmission of heart heat, Mutong San (Akebia Powder), Daochi San (Directing Red Powder), or Wuling San (Five-Ling Powder) taken with decoctions of Coicis Semen (Yiyiren, 薏苡仁) and Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi, 车前子) are suitable. All these conditions can be treated externally with Lixiaosan (Instant Dissolving Powder).

Ingredients: Semen Persicae (Taoren, 桃仁, 7.5 qian, peeled, tips removed, bran-fried to light yellow), Cortex Moutan (Danpi, 丹皮), Fructus Tribuli (Bajili, 白蒺藜, 5 qian each, lightly fried, thorns removed), Cortex Cinnamomi (Guixin, 桂心, 5 qian), Semen Kochiae (Qianniu, 牵牛, 2.5 qian, first-run powder).

Preparation: Grind into powder. Take 5 fen or 1 qian per dose. For regulating qi, take with boiling water. For abdominal or hernia pain, take with salt-water broth.
Sanbai San: Treats scrotal and limb swelling, and difficulty in urination and defecation.
Ingredients: Cortex Morus Albae (Sangbaipi, 桑白皮), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu, 白术), Semen Kochiae (Baichou, 白丑, 5 qian each, half raw half cooked), Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chenpi, 陈皮, 5 qian, white pith removed), Caulis Akebiae (Mutong, 木通, 5 qian, bark removed), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao, 甘草, 5 qian, roasted).
