Bi Yuan (Nasal Sinusitis), characterized by the discharge of turbid nasal mucus. Bi Qiu (Allergic Rhinitis/Nasal Itching), characterized by the discharge of clear nasal mucus. For elderly patients with non-drying nasal discharge, crush a single clove of garlic and apply it to the sole of the foot; the condition will not recur.
If medication is ineffective for Bi Yuan (Nasal Sinusitis), moxibustion on Shangxing (GV23) acupoint with five moxa cones is curative. Subsequently,服用 Bawei Dihuang Wan (Eight-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) should be taken to nourish the source of transformation and generation.
Bi Long (Notalgia/Deafness due to Nasal Obstruction), referring to the inability to perceive odors or sounds due to nasal blockage. Shenyu Tang (Divine Healing Decoction) is appropriate, using fresh ginger as an adjuvant, decocted in water and taken orally, yielding immediate results. The verse states: "Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Lingzhi (Poria); add Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) in triple quantity. After decoction and ingestion, Qi mechanism becomes harmonious."
Bi Nu (Epistaxis), referring to bleeding from the nose. This is caused by heat in the Lung meridian forcing blood to move recklessly. Treatment should focus on cooling the blood. However, cooling the blood requires first clearing Qi-level heat; once the Qi is cleared, blood naturally returns to its vessels. For example, use Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) and Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) to clear heat; Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) and Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) to disperse fire; Puhuang (Typhae Pollen), Jingmo (Beijing Ink), and Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma) to stop bleeding. Other suitable formulas include Lingyang Qingfei San (Antelope Horn Lung-Clearing Powder), Shengdi Maidong Yin (Rehmanniae et Ophiopogonis Decoction), and Jiawei Shengmai San (Modified Pulse-Nourishing Powder). If in summer, the pulse is weak, body is hot, sweating is profuse, and thirst is present, this is due to oppression by summer-heat. Qing it with Huanglian Xiangru Yin (Coptis and Mosla Decoction). External treatment: tie the roots of both middle fingers tightly with green cotton thread. Fold Mao Bian Zhi (rough paper) more than ten layers, soak thoroughly with water, and apply to Baihui (GV20) acupoint. Iron it with a heated iron. Alternatively, place several bowls of warm wine in a basin and immerse both feet. Or, crush garlic and apply to the soles of both feet. Then insert Shen Sai Wan (Divine Plug Pill) into the nostrils. Finally, grind Qingyin Zitui (Purple Earth from Silver-Tilted Pot) into powder, mix with burning wine, and apply to Ximen (Fontanelle). Bleeding stops immediately.
