Chou Tianluo Chuang (Stinky River Snail Ulcer) is the most lingering and difficult to cure. Itching occurs in the interdigital spaces with white patches appearing. When rubbed until the skin breaks, foul-smelling fluid oozes out. Treatment should focus on clearing heat and leaching out dampness for recovery.
[Note] This condition arises from damp-heat pouring downward from the Stomach Meridian. Although the lesion in the interdigital space appears minor, the itching is severe and cannot be relieved by rubbing. It only stops when the skin is rubbed until broken, exuding fluid and foul-smelling liquid accompanied by pain. The itching returns the next day, persisting for years without healing, making it extremely lingering. The method suggests washing with a decoction of Gancao (Licorice Root) and Yiyiren (Coix Seed). Chewed tea leaves should be applied topically; if dry, apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment) to moisturize. For severe ulceration, E Zhang Pi (Goose Palm Skin), processed to retain its medicinal nature (cun xing), should be ground into powder and mixed with sesame oil for application, which is highly effective.
Niu Cheng Jian (Ox's Callus) results from hurried walking, where hot feet contact cold water and are subsequently attacked by cold wind, leading to qi stagnation and blood coagulation that form hard ridges. The treatment method involves soaking in boiling water with pigeon droppings.
[Note] This condition occurs under the skin of the heel and sole, presenting as stubborn, hard swelling with yellowish raised ridges, causing pain that prevents walking. It is caused by hot feet contacting cold water or cold wind attacking the blood vessels, resulting in qi stagnation and blood coagulation. The method involves using a basin containing a new brick, on which pigeon droppings are placed. A bamboo cover (zhao li) is placed over the droppings, and the patient steps on the cover. Boiling water is poured in from the side for steaming and soaking; replace when cool. Alternatively, heat a new brick until red-hot, splash it with Chinese chive juice, and step on it for thermal therapy. Early treatment may lead to resolution; if neglected, it will rupture, with continuous pus discharge. Wash daily with rice wash water, apply Niu Jiao San (Horn Powder), trim the raised dead skin around the periphery, then switch to applying Sheng Ji Yu Hong Gao (Flesh-Regenerating Jade Red Ointment) and Yue Bai Zhen Zhu San (Moon-White Pearl Powder). Muscle regeneration and wound closure will occur naturally.
Niu Jiao San (Horn Powder)
Xiang Ru (Borneol/Resin), Qing Fen (Calomel), Shui Long Gu (Old Ship Bottom Pitch), Niu Jiao Jian (Horn Tip, burned to ash).
Grind all into powder and mix with Niu Su Sui (Ox Marrow) for topical application.
[Prescription Song] Niu Jiao San treats Niu Cheng Jian, where chronic rupture and pus flow resist healing; Xiang Ru, Qing Fen, and Shui Long Gu are used, along with horn tip ash.
