Treats intestinal abscess (intestinal suppurative inflammation) presenting with dull pain and constipation.
Walnut Kernel (nine kernels, peeled and tips removed), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Mudanpi), Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang, stir-fried), Natrii Sulfas (Mangxiao) (each 1 qian), Cornu Rhinocerotis (Xijiao, pounded into fine powder, 1 qian), Semen Benincasae (Dongguaren, ground, 2 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until eight fen remains. Add the Xijiao powder, take on an empty stomach.
Treats intestinal abscess, characterized by severe abdominal pain, or abdominal distension and fullness with inability to eat, and dysuria. This condition is common in women after childbirth. Even if pus has not yet formed, administration of this formula is particularly effective.
Semen Coicis (Yiyiren), Fructus Trichosanthis (Gualouren) (each 3 qian), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Mudanpi), Semen Persicae (Taoren, peeled and tips removed, each 2 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until eight fen remains, take on an empty stomach.
Treats various sores and carbuncles, as well as intestinal abscesses and traumatic fractures.
Fructus Zanthoxyli (Shujiao, those with split skin, remove eyes, lightly stir-fried), Radix Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi), Resina Myrrhae (Moyao), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Chishao), Cortex Cinnamomi (Rougui), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui), Sal Flor (Yanhua), Sanguis Draconis (Xuejie), Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Changpu), Radix Bletillae Striatae (Baiji), Radix Scutellariae (Huangqin), Cortex Albiziae Julibrissinis (Yehépi), Resina Olibani (Ruxiang), Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Fuzi), Rhizoma Alpiniae Officinarum (Liangjiang), Poria (Fuling) (each 5 qian), Natrii Nitras (Xiaoshi), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao), Nephrite (Yunmu) (each 4 liang), Folium Platycladi (Baiye), Cortex Morí (Sangbaipi), Ramulus Sophorae (Huai zhi), Ramulus Salicis (Liuzhi) (each 2 liang), Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chenpi, 1 liang), Clear Oil (Qingyou, 40 liang), Minium (Huangdan, 14 liang).
Among the above ingredients, except for the seven substances: Sanguis Draconis (Xuejie), Resina Olibani (Ruxiang), Resina Myrrhae (Moyao), Radix Belamcandae (Shegan - *note: original text says "She"*), Minium (Huangdan), Sal Flor (Yanhua), and Natrii Nitras (Xiaoshi), which are separately ground, chop the remaining herbs and soak them in oil for seven days. Simmer over low heat, stirring constantly with a willow twig whisk. When the mixture boils, remove from fire temporarily. Once boiling subsides, return to heat. Repeat this process three times until the herbal dregs turn black. Filter through paper to remove dregs, then continue simmering. Subsequently add Minium (Huangdan). When it begins to thicken, add the remaining powdered herbs, continuing to stir constantly. Simmer further until a drop forms a bead when tested in water. Store in porcelain containers. When cool, wrap Mercury (Shuiyin) in silk, and finely sprinkle it onto the surface of the plaster by hand; this is called "nourishing the medicine." When used, scrape off the mercury layer. It can be taken internally or applied externally, according to need. Its efficacy is significant.
Treats all kinds of toxic sores, regardless of whether they are recent or chronic, and whether pus has formed or not. First wash the affected area with warm water and dry with soft cloth. Alternatively, spread on crimson silk and apply. Or swallow with cold water. For stagnation of qi and blood, take with warm wine. For red and white leukorrhea, take with Danggui wine. For cough, throat obstruction, or wind-entangling throat conditions, wrap in cotton and hold in the mouth/throat. For various wind-induced red eyes, form into small cakes, apply to the Taiyang acupoint, and take with Gardenia Decoction. For contusions and injuries, apply externally and take Jupi Tang internally. For lower back and knee pain, apply to the painful area and take with salt water. For hemoptysis pills coated with Cyclinae Concha Powder (Ge Fen), take with Sangbaipi Tang. For scrofula, wash with salt water, apply, and take one pill with wine. For amenorrhea in women, take with Gancao Tang. This plaster can be stored for over ten years without spoiling; the longer it is stored, the more potent it becomes. For various tinea infections, mix a small amount of refined oil with the plaster and apply. For bites from insects and snakes, as well as burns, scalds, knife, and axe wounds, it can be taken internally and applied externally.
Radix Scrophulariae (Xuanshen), Radix Angelicae Dahuricae (Baizhi), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui), Cortex Cinnamomi (Rougui), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Sheng Dihuang), Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Chishao) (each 1 liang).
Chop coarsely. Use two jin of sesame oil, fry in a copper pot until black. Filter out the dregs. Add twelve liang of Minium (Huangdan) and fry again. Test by dropping into water and kneading; it should have moderate consistency.
I have previously used this to treat toxic sores and internal abscesses with remarkable effect. A woman with amenorrhea and abdominal masses causing pain was treated by applying this plaster; her menstruation resumed, pain ceased, and she recovered. This formula...
