A person developed several boils on the thigh. After a few days, as the wound was about to close, severe itching occurred around the edges. Washing and hot compresses with cotton cloth soaked in hot water provided great relief. However, repeated hot compresses upon recurrence of itching caused fatigue.
Hot washing and compressing are most damaging to Qi and Blood, potentially leading to dizziness or syncope. Therefore, salt was taken and rubbed all around the wound edges. The patient felt coolness inside and outside the wound, and the itching ceased. If itching was severe, rubbing was repeated according to the severity. Salt entering the wound caused no harm.
Another person suffered a contusion to the big toenail, causing separation from the flesh and bleeding. Immediately, scallion whites were baked until soft and bound tightly while hot; pain and bleeding stopped. When the scallions cooled, they were replaced.
A craftsman had his heel cut by an axe. Mud was used to plug the wound urgently. Later, infection spread, causing severe swelling and fever/chills. The old mud was removed to allow blood to flow again, followed by application of a white powder. Pain and bleeding stopped shortly after.
In cases of trauma where Qi is barely remaining, scallion whites are fried in a pan until hot and applied to the wound. The patient groans initially, but symptoms resolve after replacement. Scallion leaves can be used if whites are unavailable, provided they are heated. Frequent changes are best. If processing is insufficient due to multiple wounds, a dry pan can be used to roast and crush the scallions to release heat for application, which is effective.
For sores that have turned cold and sunk inward due to pathogenic transformation: pus has drained and resolved, skin is cool, epigastric fullness and obstruction, borborygmus with cutting pain, slight diarrhea, vomiting immediately after eating, shortness of breath, incessant hiccups, inability to lie down comfortably, and occasional mental confusion.
