The Qi of the human body is governed by the Lung. When Lung Qi is clear and descending, the Qi of the entire body obeys and flows smoothly; when Lung Qi is obstructed and turbid, the Qi of the entire body is prone to rebellion and rushing upward.
Pain accompanied by a bean-sized nodule appearing under the tongue. Additionally, there is a faint, internal dull pain above the heart region. These are all signs of toxicity generating in the Lung. One should immediately administer Ganjie Tang (Licorice and Platycodon Decoction). If relief is felt after taking the medicine, it confirms without doubt that there is toxicity in the Lung. Take ten doses of Xihuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill) over ten days, alternating morning and evening with Jiegeng Tang (Platycodon Decoction), until recovery. This represents a method of preemptive recognition and treatment. If one treats foot pain only for the foot and cough only for the cough, delaying for a long time will lead to suppuration and destruction of the Lung, often resulting in untreatable conditions. Furthermore, if the nodule under the tongue has not yet formed pus, its color must be pale; upon recovery, the lesion will disappear. If the condition is severe, the color becomes purple-black; piercing it with a knife would cause immediate death. The pus expectorated in this syndrome is always white, thick, turbid, and fishy-smelling. A blockage feels like something obstructing up and down, requiring several attempts to expel foul pus. Daily medication continues until cure. Patients suffering from this syndrome must abstain from eating duck eggs, dried fish (Baixiang), red carrots, Sciaenidae fish (Shishouyu/Huánghuāyú), and soft-shell turtles for life. Consumption of these foods will cause relapse, which becomes incurable.
Ganjie Tang (Licorice and Platycodon Decoction)
Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) and Platcodonis Radix (Jiegeng) (each 3 qian).
Decoct in water, remove dregs, and take warm.
Xihuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill) (See General Formula No. 48.)
Avoid administering Qi-breaking and acrid-hot medicines. Treat primarily with Touxī Wán (Breath-Calming Pill).
Touxī Wán (Breath-Calming Pill)
Pumex (Hǎishí), Cardamomi Fructus Rotundus (Báidòukòu), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Júpí), Belamcandae Rhizoma (Shègān), Asteris Radix (Zǐwǎn), Inulae Flos (Xuánfùhuā), Mulberry Leaf Frost (Sāngbái fà), Sinapis Semen Album (Báijiēzǐ), Platcodonis Radix (Jiégěng).
Grind into powder, form pills with alkali water.
Fuliang (Hidden Beam): An accumulation disease of the Heart. It originates below the umbilicus, large as a buttock extending to below the heart. Prolonged occurrence causes mental restlessness. It arises because both Qi and Blood of the Heart Meridian are deficient, allowing pathogenic factors to remain unresolved.
Zhènfú Wán (Shock-Subduing Pill) is indicated.
Zhènfú Wán (Shock-Subduing Pill)
Curcumae Radix (Yùjīn), Frankincense Resin (Rǔxiāng - de-oiled), Myrrha Resin (Mòyào - de-oiled), Trogopterori Faeces (Wǔlíngzhī), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dāngguī), Cyperi Rhizoma (Yánhúsūo), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chìsháo), Polygalae Radix (Yuǎnzhì), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shíchāngpǔ), Spiritus Porci (Fúshén), Ostrea Concha (Mǔlì).
Grind into powder, form pills with wine.
Piqi (Stagnant Qi): An accumulation disease of the Spleen. Due to Spleen deficiency, blood stasis, and Qi stagnation, the lesion is located at the middle epigastrium (Zhōngwǎn). The skin over the lesion definitely lacks hair. Mark the area accurately with a pen circle and apply Xiāopí Gāo (Stagnation-Dissolving Plaster). At the initial stage, one plaster application can resolve it; if chronic, two plasters are needed. Internally administer Kèjiān Jiǔ (Hardness-Overcoming Wine) until cure.
1. If a mass forms resembling a turtle or tortoise, it is caused by accumulated toxicity from consuming turtle meat. Use Biējia Gāo (Turtle Shell Plaster). Calcine Biéjiǎ (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum) with vinegar until brittle, mix with Jing-Sānléng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Ézhú (Curcumae Rhizoma), Qíngpí (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), and Xiāngfù (Cyperi Rhizoma) into powder. Boil with sour plum vinegar, mash, and form pills. Take with wine. The mass will transform into bloody fluid and exit via stool.
Kèjiān Jiǔ (Hardness-Overcoming Wine)
Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (Shuǐhónghuā) (3 qian, clean powder).
Soak in 2 jin of strong liquor. Sip occasionally. Alternatively, decoct Shuǐhónghuā seeds into an ointment, take 2 qian daily dissolved in wine.
Xiāopí Gāo (Stagnation-Dissolving Plaster)
There is a secret formula for Xiāopí Gāo. Use approximately 1 jin of Sesame Oil (Xiāngyóu) and boil with 6 liang of Mituoseng (Colloplumbi Oxidum). Add 5 qian of Asafetida (Awèi) and 1 liang of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qiánghuó - doubled amount). Add 1 liang of Polygoni Multiflori Caulis seeds (Shuǐhónghuā zǐ), blended with Moschus (Shèxiāng). Remove heat properties, spread into plasters, and apply to the affected area. Chronic malignant accumulations will be completely resolved.
