Lung: Below the throat is the Lung, located in front of the pharynx, primarily responsible for expelling Qi. The larynx is firm and hollow, connecting to the lung tube, serving as the pathway for breath; inhalation and exhalation pass through it and connect downward to the Heart. This is the manifestation of the Lung.
Pericardium: Below the chest, corresponding to the position of the Heart. The pericardium protects and surrounds the Heart on all four sides, specifically in the center between the two breasts, which is the Tanzhong Acupoint (CV17). Regarding the meridians...
Diaphragm: Below the heart, there is the diaphragm. Anteriorly it aligns with the Jiutui area, posteriorly with the eleventh thoracic vertebra, surrounding and attaching to the spine. Its function is to separate turbid Qi, preventing it from steaming upward to disturb the Heart and Lungs. Among the Twelve Meridians, only the Bladder Meridian does not penetrate this membrane.
Sanjiao (Triple Burner): Below the diaphragm is the upper opening of the Stomach. At 5 cun above the umbilicus is the Shangwan Acupoint (CV13), which corresponds to the Upper Jiao. At 4 cun above the umbilicus is the Zhongwan Acupoint (CV12), corresponding to the Middle Jiao, where the Lung meridian originates. At 2 cun above the umbilicus is the Xiawan Acupoint (CV10), corresponding to the lower opening of the Stomach, which belongs to the Lower Jiao.
Stomach: The Stomach is the sea of water and grain, the great source of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs; thus, Stomach Qi is the foundation of the entire body. Below the throat is a soft hollow that connects downward to the Stomach, serving as the pathway for food intake leading to the Youmen area, transmitting into the Small Intestine.
Spleen: The Spleen is located to the left of the Stomach, attached to its upper surface within the same membrane. It moves upon hearing sound; when it moves, it grinds the Stomach, allowing food to be digested.
Small and Large Intestines: The Small Intestine is to the left of the Stomach. The lower opening of the Stomach is called Youmen, which is the upper opening of the Small Intestine. It twists sixteen times to reach the lower opening called Lanmen, which separates the clear from the turbid, serving as the upper opening of the Large Intestine. The Large Intestine is also known as the Hui Chang, located on the left side of the abdominal cavity, twisting sixteen times to reach the Guang Chang. The Guang Chang is the Rectum, extending downward to the anus.
Liver and Gallbladder: Below the pericardium is the diaphragm. The Liver is within the diaphragm; it may have a single lobe or two to three lobes. Its connections link upward to the Pericardium, forming the Sea of Blood, with no opening downward. Within the short lobes of the Liver attaches the Gallbladder. The Gallbladder contains bitter juice and stores it without excreting it freely.
Kidney: The Kidneys are divided into left and right. In the body, there is the Mingmen (Gate of Life), attached to the spine opposite the umbilicus. A small aperture on its right side is the origin of Sanjiao Qi, indicating that congenital essence... The Mingmen resides in the center, opening one inch and five fen on each side.
Bladder: The Bladder aligns with the waist, located on the left side of the Rectum, serving as the residence of Body Fluids. When the five flavors enter the Stomach, their fluids rise up; the refined parts transform into blood vessels or bone marrow. There is no upper opening for entry, only a lower outlet. The excretion of urine and feces relies entirely on the Qi transformation of the Sanjiao. If Sanjiao Qi becomes deficient, blockage occurs, leading to disease.
