Pain in the brain, feeling as if insects are gnawing on the marrow, use peach leaves (Persicae Folium) to make a pillow; the insects will naturally discharge from the nose.
Tinnitus or noise in the head is caused by Qi carrying Liver Fire (Gan Huo), treat primarily with Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder). (General Rule 16.)
There is also a condition where there is a sound inside the head like insect burrowing, named Tian Bai Yi (Heavenly White Ant); grinding tea seeds (Camelliae Oleiferae Semen) into fine powder and insufflating it into the nose yields immediate effect.
The Face (the front of the head is called the face): The essence and Qi of the Five Zang Organs ascend to fumigate the face. The area below the zygomatic bone and outside the Yingxiang point (LI20) is the face; the center corresponds to the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. The inner part of the two zygomatic bones is governed by the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, whose vessel circulates along the cheek upwards to the infraorbital bone, and obliquely connects to the zygomatic region.
Eyebrows: The Heart-Eye connection (Yue) is at the glabella. This relates to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. The Liver Meridian passes from the eye system through the eyebrows, ascending to the forehead. The Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Sinew Meridian passes through the eyebrow angle.
Zygoma: Governed by the Kidney. The sinews of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, and Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian all knot at the zygoma. The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian converges at the zygoma. The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian passes through the Quanliao point (SI18), located in the depression at the sharp bone end below the eye.
Cheek: (Refers to the sides of the face, anterior to the ear and lateral to the zygoma.) The sinews and vessels of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian both ascend to the cheek. The vessel of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian ascends to the cheek. The Foot... [Text incomplete].
Mandible/Chin: (The soft fleshy area on both sides above the hyoid bone and below the mandible.) The sinews of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian knot at the mandible. The vessels of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian both pass through the mandible.
Ren Zhong (Human Middle): (Below the nasal column, above the lip; the acupoint name is Shuigou DU26.) The vessel of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian crosses at Ren Zhong. The Ren Zhong point of the Du Mai (Governor Vessel) is Shuigou.
Mustache (Hair above the mouth): Governed by the Large Intestine. When Blood and Qi are abundant, the mustache is beautiful; when deficient, there is no mustache.
Beard (Hair below the mouth): Governed by the Large Intestine. When Blood and Qi are abundant, the beard is beautiful; when deficient, there is no beard.
Sideburns/Facial Hair (Hair on the cheeks): Governed by the Stomach. When Blood and Qi are abundant, the facial hair is beautiful and long; when Blood is scarce, it is short; when Qi is scarce, it is sparse; when both Blood and Qi are scarce, there is no facial hair.
Zygomatic Ulcer/Zygomatic Abscess: Arises at the tip of the zygomatic bone. Cheek Ulcer: Arises between the jawbone and the cheek below the ear. Feng Mei Ju (Phoenix Eyebrow Abscess): Arises at the supraorbital ridge. Meixin Ju (Glabella Abscess): Arises between the two eyebrows.
1. Small in shape like a bean, purple in color with a scorched black apex, or resembling a blister, accompanied by numbness, itching, dull pain, aversion to cold, and fever: this is a Ding (Hard Carbuncle). It should be treated according to the methods for Ding Chuang. If it arises exactly in the middle of Ren Zhong, it is named Long Quan Ding (Dragon Spring Ding), which is particularly malignant; slight delay often leads to untreatable conditions.
