The lesion occurs in the parotid region. Some call it "Zha Sai" (Mumps), and others call it "Fa Yi" (Parotitis). They should be treated differently. If there is soreness and pain inside the parotid region, it is "Zha Sai", which can be treated by applying Chidou San externally. After the illness, taking Xingxiao Wan (Awakening and Eliminating Pills) three qian will result in recovery.
Chixiaodou San (Red Bean Powder)
Chi Xiaodou (Vigna angularis seed) (Single herb, ground into fine powder, mixed with rice vinegar for external application, cures immediately.)
Xingxiao Wan (See General Formula No. 47.)
Purple spots appearing on the face are named "Zidian Feng" (Purple Petechial Wind), caused by Liver Fire. Use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Huhuanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma var. chinensis), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Dancao (Gentianae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), and Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), decocted and taken orally. Externally, grind the tips of deer antlers into a thick juice and apply generously to the affected area.
1. Purple lumps or nodules appear, the size of a coin, or covering the entire face, gradually developing into symptoms resembling Leprosy. Use four liang of juice extracted from Niushesugen (Akebiae Caulis), and ten slices of Chuanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) calcined until carbonized but retaining its properties.
Initially, the face and eyes swell, accompanied by dryness, itching, and peeling, resembling Baixuefeng (White Scurf Wind). Gradually, the itching becomes extreme, spreading to the ears and neck, sometimes causing stabbing pain. For cases with abundant Damp-Heat, soaking for more than ten days yields results. Externally, frequently rub with fresh pork fat, or apply oil extracted from Manliyu (Anguilla japonica).
Yangxue Runfu Yin (Blood-Nourishing and Skin-Moistening Decoction)
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (3 qian) Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) (each 4 qian) Tiandong (Asparagi Radix) Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) (each 2 qian, heart removed) Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 1 qian) Taoren (Persicae Semen) Honghua (Carthami Flos) (each 6 fen) Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix) (1.5 qian)
Decoct the above herbs in water and take warm. If constipation is severe, add Huomaren (Cannabis Seed) and Yuliren (Prunus Japonica Seed) each 5 qian. If wind pathogen is strong causing severe itching, add Mingtianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) 1.5 qian.
(Also known as Lihei Ban, also known as Lihei Ban.)
The complexion looks like dust and dirt, turning coal-black over time, with a withered body lacking luster. Or large and small black spots appear, level with the facial skin. This is caused by worry, thought, and depression, leading to blood deficiency and failure to transform nutrients.
There is a prescription with excellent rationale, appended here for reference.
1. Some develop this condition due to a preference for eating Spotted Dove. Initially, a few black spots appear on the face, eventually turning the whole face black. This is likely because spotted doves often eat Pinelliae Tuber seedlings, thereby ingesting poison.
Nüzhen San (Female Virtue Powder)
Huandan (Lead Monoxide) (Washed with water to remove salt and sand, fried thoroughly, spread on the ground to dissipate fire heat before use.) Ziwan (Asteris Radix et Rhizoma) (Authentic variety.) The above two herbs are divided equally into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, twice daily, washed down with aged wine.
Yurong San (Beauty Face Powder)
Gansong (Nardostachyos Radix et Rhizoma) Shanna (Kaempferiae Rhizoma) Maoxiang (Agastache Herba) (each 5 qian) Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma) Bailian (Lilii Bulbus) Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma) Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix) Lvdoufen (Phaseoli Volubilis Semen Album) (each 1 liang) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) Linglingxiang (Lingzhi Fragrant Herb) Gaoben (Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix) (each 3 qian) Feizaoti (Soap Fruit) (3 qian, peel and strings removed) Xiangbaizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (1 liang)
Grind the above into fine powder. Dip the powder in water morning and evening to wash the face. Attached formula retained for verification.
Yangjinggu (Sheep Tibia Bone)
Grind the above into fine powder, mix with egg white for external application. Wash daily with water from rinsing white sorghum rice. Effect seen in three days.
