This condition manifests as sudden collapse and loss of consciousness; it is caused by Qi deficiency leading to phlegm turbidity clouding the orifices of the Heart. The treatment principle is simply to tonify Qi and resolve phlegm. The prescription is as follows:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (3 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (5 qian), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (3 qian), Nan Xing (Arisaematis Cum Bile) (3 qian), Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) (1 qian), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (0.5 fen). Decoct with water and take orally.
Use Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) 3 liang, decoct with water and administer via gavage, which will inevitably induce vomiting. The disease will be cured after vomiting. Cang Zhu is a Yang herb that excels at dispelling Wind, thus yielding miraculous effects when used.
It is even more effective for patients experiencing hallucinations of seeing ghosts.
Sheng Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (6 liang), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) (3 liang), San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma) (3 liang), E Zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma) (3 liang), Hei Chou (Pharbitidis Semen Nigrum) (3 liang), Bai Chou (Pharbitidis Semen Album) (3 liang). Grind together into a fine powder, make pills with water, sized like cherries.
On the day the symptoms manifest, take three or four pills dissolved in warm water early in the morning. After the purgative effect occurs, replenish the body with warm rice porridge. Avoid greasy, cold foods, and buckwheat noodles. Pregnant women should not take this.
This condition arises from contracting Damp-Heat. The stool contains both red and white substances, resembling blood and pus, representing an extremely critical state. If one merely uses Cold herbs to stop bleeding, or Hot herbs to attack the pathogen, neither constitutes good treatment.
The prescription is as follows:
Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (2 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 liang), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (2 qian), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen) (2 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian), Hua Shi (Talcum) (3 qian), Bo Zi (Radish Seed/Lai Fu Zi) (1 qian), Guang Mu Xiang (Costi Radix) (1 qian). Decoct with water and take orally. One to two doses will bring about recovery.
The brilliance of this formula lies in the heavy use of Dang Gui and Bai Shao (up to 2 liang each), ensuring sufficient Liver Blood so that it no longer overacts upon Spleen Earth, allowing the Large Intestine to naturally resume its function of transmission. Combined with Zhi Ke, etc., whether pain is present or not, this formula yields miraculous results.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (1 liang), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) (7 qian), Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) (1 qian), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (1 qian), Da Fu Pi (Arecae Pericarpium) (1 qian).
Blood dysentery accompanied by abdominal pain is due to Fire heat. The prescription is as follows:
Gui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix Caudex) (1 liang), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (3 qian), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (2 qian), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (1 liang), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (2 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian), Bo Zi (Radish Seed/Lai Fu Zi) (1 qian).
