Treatment for the first month of pregnancy, when the fetus begins to form. If cold predominates, pain is common; if heat predominates, sudden fright occurs. Lifting heavy objects causes lower back pain, abdominal fullness and uterine urgency, or sudden vaginal bleeding. One should preemptively calm the fetus.
Black-bone Hen (one, prepared as food) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, heart removed) Baifuling (Poria, 1 liang) Shaoyao (Peony Root, 1 liang, stir-fried until yellow and dry) Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit, 0.5 liang, washed in hot water seven times to remove sweat)
The above herbs are finely chopped. First, use one dou of water to boil the hen to obtain five sheng of broth. Remove the hen meat, add the other herbs to the broth, and decoct to obtain three sheng. Add two sheng of clear wine, decoct again to obtain four sheng, and strain. Take one small cup, warm, before meals.
For injury to the fetus in the first month of pregnancy, preemptively take Bupai Tang (Fetus-Nourishing Decoction).
Xixin (Asarum Root, 1 liang, washed to remove seedlings and soil) Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, 1 liang, remove radicle) Wumei (Mume Fruit Pulp, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried) Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome, 1 liang) Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root, 2 liang)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly. Take half a liang per dose, with one zhan of water and half a fen of fresh ginger, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
For pregnancy at one to two months with aversion to food and vexation in the hands and feet, take Maidong San (Ophiopogon Powder).
Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, heart removed) Zhi mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome, 3 fen) Zhike (Bitter Orange Pericarp, 3 fen, bran-roasted until slightly yellow, placenta removed) Renshen (Ginseng Root, 3 fen, radicle removed) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 3 fen)
The above herbs are crushed, sifted into powder. Take four qian per dose, with one large zhan of water and one stalk of green onion, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
Starting from the second month of pregnancy, there is disharmony of the Yin and Yang Heel Vessels (Yin-yang cuojing, dysfunction of the yin and yang heel meridians). Cold may prevent conception, while heat leads to withering and emaciation. Wind-cold invasion causes bodily tremors, chest fullness, and tension below the umbilicus.
Black-bone Hen (one, prepared as food) Aye (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 1 liang) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry) Dazao (Jujube, 12 pieces)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed. First, use one dou of water to boil the hen to obtain five sheng of broth. Remove the hen meat, add the herbs, decoct to three sheng, add two sheng of good wine, decoct to four sheng, strain, and take one small cup warm before meals.
For those who have previously injured the fetus at two months, preemptively take Huangqin San (Scutellaria Powder).
Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 1 liang) Renshen (Ginseng Root, 1 liang, radicle removed) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 0.5 liang, chopped and lightly stir-fried) Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit, 0.5 liang, washed in hot water seven times)
The above herbs are crushed and sifted into powder. Take four qian per dose, with one large zhan of water and half a fen of fresh ginger, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals. If feeling significantly uneasy, add one liang of Wumei (Mume Fruit).
For fetal movement in the second to third months of pregnancy, take Zhugen Yinzi (Chinese Ramie Root Decoction).
Shengzhugen (Fresh Chinese Ramie Root, 2 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 1 liang) Baishaoyao (White Peony Root, 1 liang) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 2 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed. Take half a liang per dose, with one large zhan of water and three jujubes, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
For lower back pain in the second to third months of pregnancy, take Danggui Yinzi (Angelica Decoction).
Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1 liang, chopped and lightly stir-fried) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed. Take half a liang per dose, with one large zhan of water and two stalks of white onion, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
In the third month of pregnancy, the fetal form is established. Cold causes green stools; heat causes difficult urination, urine not red but yellow. Sudden fright, sorrow, or anger can cause violent fetal movement.
Rooster (one fat one, prepared as food) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Renshen (Ginseng Root, 1 liang, radicle removed) Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome, 1 liang) Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, heart removed) Shaoyao (Peony Root, 1 liang, chopped and lightly stir-fried)
The above herbs are finely chopped. First, use one dou of water to boil the rooster to obtain five sheng of broth. Remove the meat, add all herbs, decoct to three sheng, add two sheng of clear wine, decoct to four sheng, strain, and take one small cup warm before meals.
For those who have previously injured the fetus at three months, preemptively take Fushen Yinzi (Poria Decoction).
Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, 1 liang) Danshen (Salvia Root, 1 liang) Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 1 liang) Renshen (Ginseng Root, 2 liang, radicle removed) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 2 liang, crushed and stir-fried until yellow and dry) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed. Take half a liang per dose, with one large zhan of water, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals. If there is lower back pain, add Sangjisheng (Taxillus Branch) two liang.
For pregnancy at three to four months with qi stagnation, aversion to food, vomiting, limb joint vexation and pain, or deficiency swelling of legs and knees, take Chaihu San (Bupleurum Powder).
Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 1 liang, remove seedlings) Renshen (Ginseng Root, 1 liang, radicle removed) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Zisu Jingye (Perilla Stem and Leaf, 0.5 liang) Mutong (Akebia Stem, 3 fen)
The above herbs are crushed and sifted into powder. Take four qian per dose, with one large zhan of water, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
For fetal restlessness in three to four months of pregnancy with vexation and heat in hands and feet, and sallow complexion, take Zhuru San (Bamboo Shavings Powder).
Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings, 1 liang) Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber, 1 liang, heart removed) Baifuling (Poria, 1 liang) Zhizi Ren (Gardenia Seed, 1 liang) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 1 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped)
The above herbs are crushed and sifted into powder. Take four qian per dose, with one medium zhan of water, decoct to six parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
For those who have previously injured the fetus at three to four months, preemptively take Tiaozhong Tang (Regulate Middle Decoction).
Baishaoyao (White Peony Root, 1 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang, roasted until slightly red and chopped) Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome, 1 liang) Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 1 liang, remove seedlings) Wumei Rou (Mume Fruit Pulp, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried) Li Gen Bai Pi (Li Root White Bark, 1 liang, chopped and lightly stir-fried) Sheng Li Gen (Fresh Li Root, 1 liang, chopped)
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed. Take half a liang per dose, with one large zhan of water, decoct to five parts, strain, and take warm before meals.
For cold in the fourth month of pregnancy causing desire to vomit, chest and diaphragm fullness, anorexia; or heat causing difficult, frequent urination resembling strangury, and distressing tension below the umbilicus, or sudden wind-cold headache:
Take Mahuang Ciji Tang (Ephedra Female Chicken Decoction).

The above herbs are crushed and sifted into powder. Take four qian per dose, with one medium zhan of water, decoct to six parts, strain, and take warm before meals.

Take Xuanfuhua Tang (Inula Flower Decoction).
