Prescription for Qilinjie Ointment to treat all kinds of carbuncles, sores, and back abscesses, malignant ulcers, and toxic swellings. After ulceration, when pus and fluid flow incessantly for a long time, muscles fail to regenerate, and pathogenic toxins are unsettled, this prescription collects toxins, stops pain, and warms the flesh.
Qilinjie (Half liang), Xionghuang [Realgar] (Half liang, finely ground), Mituosen [Litharge] (Half liang, finely ground), Cihuang [Orpiment] (One fen, finely ground), Luannian [Tattered Hair] (Half liang), Huangqin [Scutellariae Radix] (One liang), Liaoqiao [Forsythiae Fructus] (One liang), Dingxiang [Caryophylli Flos] (One liang).
The above twelve medicinal materials, including Huangqin, are finely chopped and soaked in oil overnight. Then, they are decocted over a gentle fire until the herbs turn black, after which the liquid is filtered. Next, Songzhi [Pini Resina], Ruxiang [Olibanum], and Laxie [Apis Ceranae Cera] are added and melted completely. The mixture is filtered through silk cloth to remove dregs, and the pot is cleaned. The medicated oil is returned to the pot and simmered slowly. Subsequently, Huandan [Lithargyrum] is added. Stir continuously with a willow wood spatula until the color changes. Test the consistency by dropping a small amount into a bowl of water; it should be neither too hard nor too soft. After letting it rest for a while, add powders of Qilinjie, Xionghuang, Cihuang, Mituosen, and Zhusha [Cinnabaris]. Mix evenly, pour into a porcelain box, spread thinly on paper, and apply twice daily.
