For those who consume Lu Shi (Mineral Stone), if their regimen and care are overly warming, it leads to the stagnation and blockage of Ying Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi). The Qi of the stone remains in the Zang-Fu organs without being disseminated or unblocked. This results in Heat in the Heart and Lungs. When the pathogenic factor of Heat-Toxicity rises and overcomes the upper body, it triggers the "activation" of Lu Shi. Symptoms include alternating chills and fever, headache resembling epidemic febrile diseases (Tian Xing), vexatious pain in the four limbs, mental restlessness, dry mouth with excessive thirst, and inability to eat. It is appropriate to take Gegen Tang (Kudzu Decoction).
Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) (3 fen) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (2 liang, crushed) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (3 fen, root nodes removed) Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus seed) (37 pieces) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang, used raw)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Boil in 5 large bowls of water until reduced to 2.5 bowls. Strain out the dregs. Divide into five warm doses. Take at any time.
To treat Lu Shi activation characterized by heat in the head and face, vexatious pain in the four limbs, and obstruction/stagnation of urination and defecation, it is appropriate to take Weirui San (Polygonatum Powder).
Weirui (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma) (1 liang) Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu shavings) (3 fen) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (3 liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (1 liang) Daqing (Isatidis Folium) (3 fen) Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus seed) (0.5 liang)
The above ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Boil in 1 medium bowl of water until reduced to 0.6 parts. Strain out the dregs. Take frequently while warm. Stop when bowel movement becomes smooth and easy.
To treat Lu Shi activation characterized by alternating chills and fever, headache, soreness and pain in all joints, dry lips and mouth, curled tongue, and slurred speech, it is appropriate to take Zhimu San (Anemarrhenae Powder).
Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) (1 liang) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (1 liang) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (1 liang) Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) (1 liang, sliced) Chuan Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (1 liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (1 liang)
The above ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Boil in 1.5 medium bowls of water, adding 0.5 fen of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), 1 fen of Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam), and 0.5 he of Heidou (Sojae Semen Nigrum). Reduce to 0.6 parts. Strain out the dregs. Take warm.
To treat Lu Shi activation with headache where chills and fever cannot be resolved, it is appropriate to take Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction).
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (3 fen, root nodes removed) Chi (Fermented Soybean) (1 he) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (0.5 liang, used raw) Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus seed) (0.5 liang) Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) (0.5 liang) Ji [Note: Text likely refers to a specific herb, possibly Qiji or similar, but literally 'Ji'] (0.5 liang)
The above ingredients are finely chopped. Boil together in 5 large bowls of water until reduced to 2.5 bowls. Strain out the dregs. Divide into five warm doses. Take at any time.
To treat Lu Shi activation with headache, nasal congestion, and chills/fever, it is appropriate to take Shigao San (Gypsum Powder).
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (2 liang) Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex) (3 fen) Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (3 fen, stir-fried with bran until slightly yellow, pith removed) Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) (3 fen) Ji [Note: Same as above] (1 fen)
The above ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Boil in 1 medium bowl of water, adding 0.5 fen of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and 7 cun of Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus). Reduce to 0.6 parts. Strain out the dregs. Take warm.
