Whenever wind-cold is contracted during pregnancy due to exposure to drafts or seeking coolness, the uterine collaterals (Baoluo) become cold. Consequently, at the time of delivery, the blood volume will necessarily be deficient. Alternatively, if wind-cold invades immediately after childbirth, it causes wind-cold pathogens to contend with the blood.
