Cold dysentery arises from the weakness of the intestines and stomach, which are invaded by cold pathogenic factors. When the intestines are weak, diarrhea occurs; hence it is termed cold dysentery. Dysenteric stools that are green or black all belong to cold dysentery, whereas those that are yellow or red belong to heat dysentery. If the stool is white and food is not digested, this is referred to as "Han Zhong" (Middle Jiao Deficiency-Cold). Upon pulse diagnosis, a deep pulse indicates a favorable prognosis, while a floating pulse indicates an unfavorable prognosis.
