The eight types of Jia (masses) in women are all caused by irregularities in blood vessels and essence-qi during pregnancy, childbirth, and menstruation. The Kidney belongs to Yin and governs opening and closing.
Huang Jia (Yellow Mass): When a woman's menstruation first begins, or if there is a recent injury or miscarriage where blood and qi have not yet stopped, and she has not settled into bed rest, with the five zang and six fu organs being weak and emaciated, and spirit not properly regulated, leading to discomfort in bones and joints, aversion to cold with shivering, and spasmodic pain below the shoulders and waist. This causes irritability.
Zao Jia (Restless Mass): When menstrual blood flows down but foul blood is not fully expelled, and the person is physically exhausted, walking rapidly in the summer heat, or lifting heavy objects, causing sweat to flow profusely onto the back, resulting from this condition.
Shui Bi (Water Obstruction) / Xue Jia (Blood Mass): When menstruation starts but stops before the usual number of days due to overeating, causing excessive Qi of the five grains to overflow into other viscera, especially under conditions of extreme hunger and cold, leading to spasmodic pain of blood and qi.
Tai Jia (Fetal Mass): If sexual intercourse occurs within thirty days after childbirth while menstruation has just started, causing meridians to split, the Bao Men (uterine gate) to be injured, and the Zi Hu (uterine door) to lose control, leading to disintegration of joints and loss of fetal essence, allowing wind pathogens to invade, resulting in lifelong infertility. If the mass forms hands and feet, it is fatal; if not formed, it is treatable.
Hu Jia (Fox Mass): When menstruation should arrive at the normal monthly interval but instead brings sorrow and fear, or after long travel encountering violent storms, rain, thunder, lightning, and fright, with damp clothes and bedding, leading to pathogenic invasion of the Bladder and damage to Liver Qi...
