For women suffering from metrorrhagia (continuous menstrual bleeding), the etiology lies in the damage to menstrual blood and the deficiency of the Chong (Penetrating) and Ren (Conception) vessels. The Chong and Ren vessels serve as the Sea of the Twelve Meridians (the reservoir for Qi and Blood). The Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian connects with the uterus; dysfunction here leads to the reckless movement of menstrual blood.
