In women, amenorrhea (absence of menstruation) leading to infertility is caused by wind-cold pathogenic factors invading the meridians and blood. Blood flows freely when warmed but coagulates when exposed to cold.
Treatment for amenorrhea and infertility in women due to wind-cold affecting the uterus, with accumulated blood stagnating in the bladder, resulting in pain in the lower back and hips, heat sensation in the palms and soles, and oppression or discomfort in the back and shoulders.
Herbs: Taohua (Peach Blossom), Suhe Xiang (Styrax), Anxi Xiang (Benzoin), Muxiang (Aucklandia Root), Binglang (Areca Seed), Chuan Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas from Sichuan) (each 3 fen), Shuizhi (Hirudo, leech) (0.5 liang, stir-fried until slightly yellow), Mengchong (Blepharicera larva, blowfly larva) (remove wings and feet, stir-fried), Zhechong (Eupolyphaga steleophaga, ground beetle) (remove head and feet, stir-fried), Ganqi (Resina Draconis, processed dragon's blood resin) (1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until smoke appears), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, tree peony root bark) (1 liang), Shegan (Belamcanda Rhizome) (1 liang), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) (1 liang), Taoren (Prunus Persica Seed, peach kernel) (2 liang, soaked in water, skin and tips removed, lightly stir-fried), Shuizhi (Hirudo, leech) (0.5 liang, coated with vinegar and stir-fried until yellow), Fahui (Burnt Hair) (0.5 liang).
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above herbs into fine powder. Decoct Ganqi (Resina Draconis) in wine to form a paste, mix with the herb powder, and pound/knead for 300-200 times. Form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 20 pills per dose, washed down with the medicinal wine used for soaking the herbs. Take twice daily.
Medicinal Wine Soaking Formula: Dama Ren (Cannabis Sativa Seed, hemp seed), Niuxi (Achyranthes Bidentata Root, cyathula root) (remove rhizome), Shegan (Belamcanda Rhizome), Tugua Gen (Trichosanthes Kirilowii Root, snake gourd root), Taoren (Prunus Persica Seed, peach kernel) (soaked in water, skin and tips removed, double kernels, bran-lightly stir-fried), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, cinnamon twig), Qiong (textual error/missing character, retained as is). All herbs are finely chopped. Soak in 2 dou of wine for three days. When taking medicine, warm one small cup and drink it. Taking this wine alone is also beneficial.
Ganqi Wan Formula (Dragon's Blood Pill) for treating chronic cold in the viscera, accumulation of evil blood, amenorrhea, and resulting infertility.
Herbs: Ganqi (Resina Draconis, processed dragon's blood resin) (1 liang, crushed and stir-fried until smoke appears), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, tree peony root bark) (1 liang), Shegan (Belamcanda Rhizome) (1 liang), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) (1 liang), Taoren (Prunus Persica Seed, peach kernel) (2 liang, soaked in water, skin and tips removed, lightly stir-fried), Shuizhi (Hirudo, leech) (0.5 liang, coated with vinegar and stir-fried until yellow), Fahui (Burnt Hair) (0.5 liang).

Herbs: Baiwei (Clematis Root) (1 liang), Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (2 liang), Baiqian (Cynanchum Stauntonii Rhizome) (0.5 liang), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) (0.5 liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, prepared lateral root of aconite) (0.5 liang, cracked, peeled, and umbilicus removed), Houpo (Magnolia Bark) (0.5 liang, ginger juice-treated), Baizi Ren (Biota Seed, arborvitae seed) (1 liang), Danshen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root, salvia root) (3 fen).
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above herbs into fine powder. Mix with refined honey and pound/knead for 300-500 times. Form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 30 pills per dose on an empty stomach and before evening meal, washed down with warm wine.
Shu Dihuang Wan Formula (Prepared Rehmannia Pill) for treating irregular menstruation, emaciation of the four limbs, decreased appetite, gradual feeling of deficiency and fatigue, and resulting infertility.
Herbs: Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) (2 liang), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, tree peony root bark) (1 liang), Baizi Ren (Biota Seed, arborvitae seed) (1 liang, lightly stir-fried), Baishao Yao (White Peony Root) (0.5 liang), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) (0.5 liang, sliced and lightly stir-fried), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, prepared lateral root of aconite) (0.5 liang, cracked, peeled, and umbilicus removed), Shihu (Dendrobium Stem) (2 liang, roots removed, baked seven times until dry, lightly stir-fried), Muxiang (Aucklandia Root) (0.5 liang).
