上件药。捣粗罗为散。每服一钱。以水一小盏。
煎至五分。去滓。不计时候。量儿大小。以意加减温服。
治小儿伤寒鼻衄。烦热头痛。竹茹散方。

上件药相和令匀。不计时候。以新汲水调下半钱。更量儿大小。加减服之。

上取乱发烧灰细研。频频吹少许于鼻中良。
Epistaxis in pediatric cold damage (Shanghan) arises from heat pathogens clashing with the Qi level, subsequently affecting the Blood level. The Lung governs the skin and hair of the body, controls Qi mechanism, and opens into the nose. Cold damage pathogens first invade the exterior; if not resolved, they may transmit internally.
For treating pediatric cold damage epistaxis accompanied by fever, headache, and vomiting/nausea, use Maidong San (Ophiopogon Powder).
Ingredients: Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 3 fen, heart removed, roasted), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Hanshuishi (Halysite, 0.5 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and chopped), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 0.5 liang).
Process these ingredients by crushing and sieving coarsely to make a powder. Administer 1 qian per dose, decocted in one small cup of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain the dregs. Serve warm at any time, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age.
For treating pediatric cold damage epistaxis accompanied by irritability, heat, and headache, use Zhuru San (Bamboo Sheath Powder).
Ingredients: Kuzhuru (Phyllostachys Bamboo Sheath, 0.5 liang), Fulonggan (Dragon's House Earth, 1 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and chopped), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 1 liang, heart removed, roasted).
Process these ingredients by crushing and sieving coarsely to make a powder. Administer 1 qian per dose, decocted in one small cup of water until reduced to 0.5 cup. Strain the dregs. Serve warm at any time, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age.
For treating pediatric cold damage with high fever and continuous epistaxis:
Ingredients: Sheng Ganhudi Huang (Dried Raw Rehmannia Root, 2 liang).
Finely chop the ingredient, place it in a silver vessel, add one medium cup of wine, and decoct until reduced to 0.7 cup. Strain the dregs. Divide into three warm doses, administered at any time.
Another prescription:
Ingredients: Sheng Gegen Zhi (Fresh Pueraria Juice).
Administer one small cup, divided into two doses, which will stop the bleeding.
For treating pediatric cold damage epistaxis that has persisted for several days without stopping:
Ingredients: Sheng Dihuang Zhi (Raw Rehmannia Juice, one small cup), Baimi (White Honey, one small cup), Puhuang (Typha Pollen, 1 liang).
Mix these ingredients and warm them slightly. Administer half a small cup per dose, reducing the amount per intake but increasing frequency, adjusted according to the child's age.
For treating pediatric cold damage where epistaxis has lasted for days, alternating between stopping and recurring:
Ingredients: Puhuang (Typha Pollen, 1 liang), Shiliuhua Mo (Pomegranate Flower Powder, 0.5 liang).
Mix these ingredients evenly. Administer half a qian mixed with fresh well-water at any time, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age.
For treating pediatric cold damage epistaxis persisting for several days:
Take human hair, burn it to ash, grind it finely, and frequently insufflate a small amount into the nostrils for good effect.
