Pediatric convulsive epilepsy originates from fright and terror accompanied by loud crying, which injures the spirit (Shen) and disturbs the qi and blood vessels. Due to fright, it manifests as convulsions and becomes epilepsy.

For pediatric sudden-onset convulsive epilepsy presenting with high fever and dry mouth, use Gouteng San (Uncaria Powder).

Crush the above herbs into a coarse powder. Take 1 qian per dose, decoct in one small cup of water until reduced to half a cup, strain, add Banhe Zhu Li (Bambusae Caulis Succus, half he), mix well, boil for one or two more boils, and divide into two warm doses. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and condition.

For pediatric convulsive epilepsy with irregular onset times, use Niuhuang San (Calculus Bovis Powder).

Decoct in two large cups of water until reduced to one cup, strain, add one small cup of Zhu Li (Bambusae Caulis Succus), boil for five to seven turns, stop heating, allow to cool, and store in a porcelain container. Add Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis) and mix. Take an amount the size of an almond mixed with boiled water, three times daily. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.

For pediatric convulsive epilepsy with emaciation and irritability, use Xijiao Jian (Rhinoceros Horn Decoction/Paste).

Finely grind into a powder, mix with well-water (Jinghua Shui), and take half a qian. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.

For pediatric convulsive epilepsy where the child does not recognize people, is comatose, chews the tongue, and gazes upward, use this formula.
Take Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis) the size of a cowpea, finely grind, mix with honey water, and take in one dose.

For pediatric convulsive epilepsy with spasms, use Tiger Eye Formula.
Finely grind Tiger Eyes (Hujing), mix with water, and administer. Adjust dosage according to the child's age.

Another Formula.
Take Xiongdan (Ursi Fel, size of two beans), grind and mix with milk and Zhu Li (Bambusae Caulis Succus) for administration.

Another Formula.
Mix Ji Zi Huang (Yolk of Chicken Egg) with milk, administer according to the child's age. Not exceeding three to two eggs will lead to recovery.

Formula for Sudden Pediatric Convulsive Epilepsy.
Prick and take half a he of white dog blood for oral administration. Adjust dosage according to the child's age. Applying to the body is also beneficial.

Another Formula.
Take Hydrargyrum (Shuiyin) the size of a sour jujube seed, filter through two layers of good rattan paper, squeeze until it passes through the paper, then administer to the child. Finish one dose for great efficacy.

Another Formula.
Take Shehuang (Serpentis Gallus), grind with warm water, and administer.

For pediatric convulsive epilepsy with continuous attacks, unresponsiveness, emaciation, opisthotonos, and inability to tolerate oral medication, use Mahuang Shi Ti Tang (Ephedra Body-Wiping Decoction).

Finely chop the above herbs, decoct in seven sheng of water until reduced to one sheng, strain, soak a soft cloth in the liquid, and wipe the child's body for effectiveness.

Heat-Removing Danshen Massage Ointment for Pediatric Convulsive Epilepsy.
Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix, half liang) Leiwan (Leiwan, half liang) Zhigao (Porcine Fat, 2 liang)
Finely chop the above herbs. Put Zhigao (Porcine Fat) in a silver vessel, boil first, then add the herbs. Boil up and down seven times until the ointment is formed. Filter through silk to remove dregs, and store in a porcelain container.
