For treating pediatric wind obstruction with excessive qi, phlegm stagnation in the chest and heart, high fever, and onset of epilepsy, use the Gouteng San (Uncaria Powder) formula:
Gouteng (Caulis Uncariae cum Uncis, 1 fen), Zha Chan (Tibet Cicada, 2 pieces, lightly stir-fried, wings and feet removed), Chuan Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae, 0.5 liang), Zi Qin (Radix Scutellariae, 0.5 liang), Maimendong (Radix Ophiopogonis, 0.5 liang, core removed, dried).
Crush the above herbs into a coarse powder. Take 1 qian per dose, decoct with one small cup of water until reduced to half a cup, filter out the dregs, add Ban Zhu Li (Bamboo Juice, 0.5 he), and adjust the dosage according to the child's age.
For treating pediatric febrile epilepsy with high fever in skin and flesh, irritability, and headache, use the Fushen San (Poria Cocos Powder) formula:
