Pediatric wind epilepsy is caused by improper nursing and rearing, leading to disharmony of blood and qi, with wind pathogens invading the body. Sometimes, due to excessive clothing causing sweating, the couli (skin pores) open, and direct exposure to wind triggers the disease.
If the pulse is rigid like a taut string, epilepsy will inevitably occur. During an epileptic seizure, the limbs twitch and spasm; one must not forcibly restrain or grasp the child's limbs, as this may cause joint deformity and restricted movement.
To treat pediatric wind epilepsy characterized by tendon and vessel spasms, nocturnal startle palpitations, limb restlessness, and high skin fever, use Tianzhu Huang San (Tianzhu Yellow Powder).
Tianzhu Huang (1 fen, finely ground) Niuhuang (1 fen, finely ground) Zhi Mu (1 fen) Chishao Yao (1 fen) Xijiao Xie (1 fen) Gouteng (1 fen) Baijiangcan (1 fen, lightly stir-fried, remove silk and mouth)
Crush the above ingredients and pass them through a fine sieve to make a powder. Administer half a qian each time, mixed with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction), five times a day. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age.
To treat pediatric wind epilepsy with phlegm-saliva accumulation in the chest, use Baixianpi San (Baixianpi Powder).
Baixianpi (0.5 liang) Xixin (0.5 liang) Zhachan (2 pieces, lightly roasted) Gouteng (0.5 liang) Chuandahuang (3 qian, cut into pieces, lightly stir-fried) Shetui (1 liang, lightly roasted, yellowish-white ones)
Crush the above ingredients and pass them through a coarse sieve to make a powder. Administer 1 qian each time, decocted in one small cup of water until reduced to half a cup. Strain the dregs, add a small amount of Niuhuang powder, and administer warm, adjusting the dose according to the child's age.

Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix evenly, and grind thoroughly. Combine with glutinous rice paste to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Administer three pills each time with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction). Adjust the dosage according to the child's age.
To treat pediatric wind epilepsy with unpredictable onset, high fever, irritability, and tendon/vessel stiffness, use Niuhuang San (Niuhuang Powder).
Niuhuang (1 fen, finely ground) Muxiang (1 fen) Ruxiang (1 fen) Zhusha (1 fen, finely ground) Baijiangcan (1 fen, lightly stir-fried)
Grind the above ingredients and pass them through a fine sieve to make a powder. Take half a qian at any time, mixed with warm Zhuli (Bamboo Sap). Adjust the dosage according to the child's age.
