The Kidney governs water metabolism, while the Lung governs Qi dynamics. If Kidney Qi is deficient and unable to control water, water will flow recklessly and overflow, infiltrating and spreading into the skin, resulting in bodily swelling and fullness that continues to disperse. The water qi ascends to invade the Lung; when the Lung receives water, it becomes floating, leading to rebellious Qi, coughing, and wheezing.
