For febrile diseases presenting with irritability, it is due to Yang prevailing over Yin. The pathogenic heat alone becomes excessive, stagnating and knotting within the Zang organs, thereby isolating the Sanjiao (Triple Burner). Consequently, the body becomes hot and the patient feels irritable.
For febrile diseases where sweating has not yet occurred, accompanied by body heat and irritability, Longdan San (Gentian Powder) is indicated.
