When the deficiency and excess of the Zang-Fu organs are unregulated, exogenous heat (Ke Re) arises. When wind-dampness exists on the exterior and contends with heat qi, sores will appear on the body, accompanied by itching, pain, and discharge of pus. This is caused by wind-heat pathogenic factors.
For treating febrile diseases where toxic heat sores appear all over the body, causing itching, pain, and purulent discharge, it is appropriate to take Xuan Shen San (Scrophulariae Radix Powder).
Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 liang) Ling Yang Jiao (Saiga Tatarica Horn, 1 liang) Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, 1 liang, cut into pieces) Chuan Sheng Ma (Bupleuri Radix, 1 liang) Da Qing (Isatidis Folium, 1 liang) Lou Lu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba, 2 liang) Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex, 1 liang) Chuan Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, cut and lightly stir-fried) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, honey-fried until slightly red and cut).
The above medicines are pounded, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 3 qian. Boil in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For treating febrile diseases where toxic qi attacks the skin, causing sores with itching and pain, it is appropriate to take Lou Lu San (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba Powder).
Lou Lu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba, 1.5 liang) Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis, 1 liang) Lan Ye (Isatidis Folium, 1 liang) Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 1 liang) Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 1 liang) Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 liang) Chuan Sheng Ma (Bupleuri Radix, 1 liang) Chuan Po Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 liang) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, honey-fried until slightly red and cut).
The above medicines are pounded, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 3 qian. Boil in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain the dregs, add Ban He of fresh Sheng Di Huang juice (Rehmanniae Radix). Take warm at any time.
For treating febrile diseases where toxic qi does not dissipate, causing toxic heat sores all over the body, it is appropriate to take Bai Xian Pi San (Dictamni Cortex Powder).
Bai Xian Pi (Dictamni Cortex, half liang) Chuan Sheng Ma (Bupleuri Radix, half liang) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, half liang) Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, half liang) Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 1 liang, heart removed and baked) Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, slightly red and cut) [Note: The text contains an isolated character "Xing" (Apricot) without dosage or processing instructions, likely a textual error for Xing Ren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), but translated literally as per source].
The above medicines are coarsely pounded and sifted into a powder. Each dose is 4 qian. Boil in one zhong of water until reduced to six-tenths. Strain the dregs. Take warm at any time.
For treating febrile diseases where repeated sweating fails to eliminate toxic qi, which then attacks the head, face, and body, causing bean-sized sores with white heads and purple roots due to intense toxic qi, it is appropriate to take Ge Gen Powder (Puerariae Lobatae Radix Powder - *Name inferred from context/pattern, though strictly absent in text header*).
Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 1 liang, cut) Chuan Sheng Ma (Bupleuri Radix, 1 liang) Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 1 liang) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 1 liang) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and cut) Yu Jin (Curcumae Radix, 1 liang) Chuan Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, cut and lightly stir-fried).
The above medicines are finely pounded and sifted into a powder. Each dose is 2 qian. Take one egg, use only the white, mix with half a zhong of fresh well-water, and dissolve the medicine. Take at any time.
For treating febrile diseases where toxic qi stagnates causing swelling and sores, it is appropriate to apply Ban Xia San (Pinelliae Rhizoma Powder).
Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 1 liang) Chuan Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang) Ru Xiang (Olibanum, 1 liang).
The above medicines are finely pounded and sifted into a powder. Take 3 liang of Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), finely chop, mix with the medicines, and pound into a paste. Apply to the swollen area, about 3 fen thick. Replace when dry.
For treating febrile diseases after five to seven days, where toxic qi attacks the skin causing sores and swelling, it is appropriate to take Xiao Zhong Tui Yong Du Fang (Reduce Swelling and Drain Toxic Qi Formula).
Sheng You (Raw Sesame Oil, 1 he) Hu Sui Zhi (Coriandri Fructus Juice, 1 he) Ji Zi Bai (Egg White, 2).
Mix the above medicines evenly. Take on an empty stomach in one dose. If symptoms do not cease, take again.
Another formula.
Chuan Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang) Ni Fen (Calomel, half liang).
Grind the above medicines finely together. Mix with raw sesame oil to form a paste. Apply externally.
Another formula.
Take lean pork, slice thinly, soak in cold water, wring out dry, and apply to the sores. Replace when hot.
For treating febrile diseases where heat toxin causes sores that spread rapidly over the head, face, and body, resembling fire burns, often containing blisters (Bao Jiang), some ruptured and some intact, this formula is suitable.
Boil Kua Cai (Abutili Avicennae Folium) thoroughly and eat it with Suan Ji (Garlic Paste). This will stop the condition.
Consume these foods immediately upon onset. If not treated early, severe cases may result in death. If black scars remain after recovery and persist for a year, this is considered malignant epidemic toxic qi. In the fourth year of Yong Hui (Tang Dynasty era), this qi flowed from west to east, covering the land. If suffering from this disease, follow this prescription urgently; it will be effective.
