Luoli (cervical lymph node tuberculosis) is a disease formed by the accumulation of wind pathogens internally, heat toxicity accumulating in the Liver, disharmony of Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive Qi), stagnation in the chest and diaphragm, and the binding of toxic heat with sinews and vessels, resulting in nodular aggregation.
Qiaoliao (Forsythiae Fructus, one tael), Xijiao xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu, one tael), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, half tael), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, one tael, sliced), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, half tael, sliced), Loulu (Dangsheni Radix, one fen), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen, one tael, soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, double-kernel bran-fried until slightly yellow).
The above herbs are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is three qian. Add one zhong of water, decoct until six parts remain, remove the dregs, and take warm before meals.
For Luoli with continuous discharge of pus and blood, it is appropriate to take this formula to eliminate necrotic tissue, disperse toxic vapors, and make the nodules mobile and soft. Biejia San Formula:
Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, one tael, coated with vinegar, fried until yellow, skirt removed), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantidis Ootheca, five pieces, lightly fried), Yelangdu (Stemona Radix, two taels, sliced, mixed with vinegar and fried until yellow), Chong (Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga, five pieces, finely ground).
The above herbs are finely crushed, sifted through a fine sieve, and mixed thoroughly with the previously ground ingredients. Take one dose each time on an empty stomach, at noon, and near nightfall. Mix one qian with millet gruel for administration.
For multiple-headed Luoli that persist for a long time without healing, accompanied by continuous pus and blood discharge and pain. Douniu Zi San Formula:
Douniu Zi (Fructus Arctii growing on bean leaves, seven pairs, stir-fried together with glutinous rice until the rice turns yellow), Shexiang (Moschus, half qian, finely ground).
The above herbs are ground together into a fine powder. Separately, take three qian of Zhike powder, add one zhong of water, decoct until four parts remain, remove the dregs, and mix with half qian of the powder. Take at wugeng time (3-5 AM). After a while, abdominal pain may occur; simply sip the Zhike decoction slowly, and the pain will cease spontaneously. The expulsion of foul matter from the small intestine indicates efficacy.
For Luoli nodules swelling and suppurating, it is appropriate to take Huangqi Wan Formula:
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, one tael, sliced), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, one tael), Loulu (Dangsheni Radix, one tael), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, one tael, bran-fried until slightly yellow, pith removed), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, one tael), Xijiao xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu, one tael), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, one tael, radix removed), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, two taels, lightly fried), Chuandahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, one tael, sliced and crushed, lightly fried).
The above herbs are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with refined honey and pound 300-200 times. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach and before evening meals, washed down with millet gruel.
For Luoli nodules that have ulcerated and suppurated. Zhike Wan Formula:
Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, one and a half taels, bran-fried until slightly yellow, pith removed), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, one tael), Loulu (Dangsheni Radix, one and a half taels), Chuandahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, one and a half taels, sliced and crushed, lightly fried), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, two taels, sliced), Yingshi (Rubiae Radix, one tael), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, two taels, lightly fried), Lufengfang (Apiapis Alveus, half tael, lightly roasted).
The above herbs are finely crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with refined honey and pound 300-200 times. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills at any time, washed down with millet gruel.
For Luoli nodules with heads and continuous purulent discharge. Bailian Wan Formula:
Bailian (Puerariae Radix, one tael), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, one tael, sliced), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, one tael), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, one tael, bran-fried until slightly yellow, pith removed), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, one tael), Wushe (Agkistrodon, two taels, soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted until yellow), Banmao (Mylabris, fourteen pieces, head, feet, wings, and feathers removed, stir-fried with glutinous rice until the rice turns yellow).
The above herbs are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take ten pills on an empty stomach and before evening meals, washed down with millet gruel.
For Luoli forming lumps with pain and continuous purulent discharge after ulceration, curable regardless of duration. Bohe Wan Formula:
Bohe (Menthae Haplocalyx, one bundle bowl-sized, dried in shade), Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, ten stalks, one chi two cun long, free of pests, black skin removed, coated with vinegar, roasted until scorched yellow).
The above herbs are crushed. Soak in one dou of wine for three nights. Remove and dry in the sun. Soak again for three nights. Repeat until the wine is fully absorbed. Dry by roasting, crush, and sift into powder. Mix with cooked rice to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills before meals, washed down with Huangqi decoction. Reduce dosage for children.
For Luoli with heads, non-drying purulent discharge, and pain, apply Fengfang Gao externally:
Lufengfang (Apiapis Alveus, one tael), Shetuipi (Bombyx Batryticatus, half tael), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, half tael), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, three qian), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen, one tael, soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, double-kernel ground), Luankou (Human hair, size of a chicken egg), Huangdan (Minii Oxidum, five taels).
The above herbs are finely sliced. Use one jin of sesame oil. First decoct the hair and almonds until the hair dissolves completely. Filter through silk cloth to remove dregs. Add all remaining herbs to the pot and decoct until scorched yellow. Filter again to remove dregs. Add Huangdan. Stir continuously with a willow wood spatula until the ointment forms. Pour into a porcelain container. Apply as needed onto cloth and patch to the affected area.
For continuous purulent discharge from Luoli, apply Shuhui San externally:
Shefushuzhongshu (Mouse found in snake belly, one piece, burned to ash), Xama (Bufo bufo gargarizans, one piece, stir-fried to ash).
The above herbs are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with raw sesame oil, spread on cloth, and apply to the affected area. Change once daily.
For Luoli that have ruptured and suppurred, use this formula:
