Fengdu Luoli (Wind-toxin Scrofula) is caused by the pathogenic factor of wind-evil lingering in the meridians. The qi mechanism of the meridians becomes obstructed and stagnant, leading to the accumulation and formation of this disease. This usually occurs because the zang-fu organs inherently harbor wind-heat pathogens that cannot be dispersed and circulated smoothly. Consequently, the pathogenic factors lodge in the muscles, struggling with the blood and qi, thereby remaining and condensing to form Luoli (Scrofula).
For treating Fengdu Luoli accompanied by symptoms of tendon and meridian spasm, irritability, heat, and pain, use Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder).
Rhino Horn Shavings (3 fen) Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, 1 liang, remove radicle) Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn Shavings, 3 fen) Yiyiren (Coix Seed, 3 fen) Zhike (Bitter Orange Peel, 1 liang, bran-fried until slightly yellow, remove placenta) Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 1 liang, honey-fried until slightly red, chopped) Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 1 liang)
The above herbs are coarsely crushed, passed through a coarse sieve to make a powder. Each dose consists of 4 qian. Boil with one zhong of water until reduced to 6 fen. Strain the dregs. Take warm after meals.
