The five zang organs and six fu organs all require the extraction of body fluids (Jinye). If a person is damaged by overwork, leading to an imbalance of deficiency and excess, internal heat will generate within the zang and fu organs. When this heat resides internally, it causes the depletion and reduction of body fluids, resulting in excessive thirst.
For treating excessive thirst caused by deficiency-labor (Xu Lao), accompanied by emaciation and fatigue in the four limbs, the Fushen San (Poria Pill Powder) formula is suitable.
Ingredients: Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, removed roots and crushed), Gualualagen (Trichosanthis Radix), Rongrongrou (Cynomorii Fructus, soaked in wine overnight, scraped of wrinkled skin, and stir-fried until yellow), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, removed rhizome head). (Each half liang)
Preparation and Administration: The above herbs are coarsely ground and sieved to make a powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one zhuan of water until reduced to 60%, strain out the dregs, and take warm at any time.
