Blood dysentery is a condition caused by heat-toxin penetrating into the blood and entering the large intestine. Blood circulates through the meridians with Qi, passing through the Zang-Fu organs, and usually does not stagnate or accumulate. If it stagnates and accumulates, heat is generated.
For treating blood dysentery accompanied by mental restlessness and fever, abdominal pain, and inability to eat, use the Qigen San (Qigen Powder) formula:
Qigen (Radix Rubiae Cordifoliae, 1 liang), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis, 2 liang, remove stamens, lightly stir-fried), Diyü (Radix Sanguisorbae, 1 liang, chopped), Zhizi Ren (Semen Gardeniae, 0.5 liang), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 1 liang), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1 liang, chopped, lightly stir-fried), Xijiao Xie (Cornu Rhinocerotis, 1 liang), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae, 1 liang).
Crush and sieve the above ingredients to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water, 50 grains of Chishao (Folium Clitandriae), and 7 cun of Jiubai (Bulbus Allii Fistulosi). Decoct until reduced to 6 fen. Strain and take warm at any time.

Crush and sieve the above ingredients to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add 1 zhong of water. Decoct until reduced to 6 fen. Strain and take warm at any time.
For treating heat-toxin blood dysentery with成片 (sheet-like) stools and pain below the umbilicus, use the Ejiao San (Ejiao Powder) formula:
