[Ba Zheng San (Eight-Upright Powder)] Indicated for pathogenic heat in the Heart meridian in adults and children, as well as all types of accumulated toxins. Symptoms include dryness of the throat and mouth, excessive thirst with a strong desire to drink; palpitations, facial flushing, restlessness, irritability, and insomnia; headache, cracked lips, epistaxis (nosebleed), sores in the mouth and tongue, and swelling and pain in the throat. It is also indicated for dark red and dysuric urine, urinary retention, as well as Heat-Lin (strangury) and Blood-Lin. Preparation and Administration: Grind Qianhai Zi (Plantaginis Semen), Qumai (Dianthi Herba), Pian Xu (Polygoni Avicularis Herba, also known as Dibianzhu), Huashi (Talcum), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Gancao (Licorizae Radix et Rhizoma, prepared by stir-frying with honey), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), and Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, stir-fried wrapped in flour) into a powder. Take 2 qian per dose, add 1 chalice of water and Dengxin Cao (Junci Medulla), decoct until reduced to 0.7 chalice, filter the dregs, and take warm. Administer after meals and before bedtime. For children, administer small amounts according to their capacity.
[Long Nao Yin Zi (Borneol Drink)] Indicated for accumulated pathogenic heat in adults and children, manifesting as swelling and pain in the throat, red eyes, oral ulcers, mental restlessness, epistaxis, dry throat with excessive thirst, and restless sleep. It is also suitable for cough with phlegm-heat, irritability due to heatstroke, and all types of Wind obstruction. Ingredients: Suazhen Ren (Amomi Fructus), Gualou Gen (Trichosanthis Radix) (each 3 liang), Huoxiang Ye (Agastachis Folium) (2.4 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (4 liang), Gancao (Licorizae Radix et Rhizoma, stir-fried with honey) (16 liang). Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 to 2 qian per dose, mix with fresh water and honey, and swallow. Additionally, it treats residual toxins from Cold Damage (Shanghan), presenting as tidal fever and spontaneous sweating. Use 2 qian of medicine, add 1 chalice of water and 5-6 slices of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium), decoct until reduced to 0.7 chalice, take warm, and administer after meals.
[Miao Xiang Wan (Wonderful Fragrance Pill)] Indicated for epidemic diseases or Cold Damage in men and women, capable of resolving five types of toxins, treating tidal fever, accumulated heat, and pediatric convulsive diseases such as Jingxian (infantile epilepsy) and various other ailments. Ingredients: Badou (Crotonis Fructus) (315 grains, peeled, cored, membrane removed, stir-fried until cooked, ground into an oily paste resembling flour), Niuhuang (Bovis Calculus, ground), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, ground), Nifen (Calomelas, ground). Preparation: Mix and grind the above medicines uniformly. Melt 6 liang of Huangla (Beeswax) with one-third part of Baishami (White Sand Honey), blend evenly, and form pills. Each liang of medicinal powder makes 30 pills. For treating tidal fever, accumulated heat, or Cold Damage leading to Jie-Xiong (chest binding), jaundice, manic running, restlessness, dry mouth, flushed face, and constipation/urinary retention, swallow one pill with Da Huang Zhi Gancao Tang (Decoction of Prepared Rhubarb and Licorice). If poisoning causes bloody diarrhea, mix a small amount of Nifen with Huanglian Tang (Coptidis Decoction) to swallow. For alcohol toxicity, food toxicity, tea toxicity, Qi toxicity, Phlegm-Wind stagnation causing Pi (fullness), vomiting, and regurgitation, use Nifen and Longnao with Mi Yin (rice water) to swallow. For poisoning causing hematemesis, severe confusion, and irritability approaching death, swallow human blood for immediate recovery. For pediatric conditions such as Jingxian, acute and chronic Jingfeng (convulsions), rising phlegm, and spasms, swallow two pills the size of mung beans using Longnao and Nifen mixed with honey water. For various food accumulations and heat accumulation, manifesting as flushed cheeks, irritability, restless sleep, crying in fright, and diarrhea, swallow with Jin Yin Bo He Tang (Honeysuckle and Mint Decoction), adjusting the dose according to age. If adults and women suffer from Cold Damage or epidemic diseases where Yin and Yang Qi are interlocked, latent toxic vapors remain in the Stomach, causing panting, restlessness, red eyes, irregular tidal fevers, and no improvement after 7-8 days up to half a month, despite unclear diagnosis and chaotic pulse/symptoms, take one pill, or divide into three pills, swallowing each with Longnao, Nifen, and more than half a chalice of Mi Yin. This dose aims to expel all evil toxic phlegm and the pill itself via defecation. To stop the purgative effect, wash the residue with water, wrap in oil paper, bury in the ground for five days, then retrieve for reuse. One pill used for adults or children can save three people but cannot be reused thereafter. To accelerate the drug's action, pierce a small hole with a needle, soak in cold water for a short time, and then take; this yields faster results.
