[Longnao Jisu Wan]
Eliminates irritability and relieves fatigue, promotes digestion and directs rebellious Qi downward, disperses stagnant heat in the chest. It primarily treats lung-heat cough, epistaxis (nosebleed), hematemesis (vomiting blood), metrorrhagia (uterine bleeding), and lower gastrointestinal bleeding.
For labor-induced lin syndrome (dysuria due to exhaustion) and qi-stagnation lin syndrome, it stops xiaoke (wasting-thirst syndrome resembling diabetes), eliminates palpitations and fright, cools the upper jiao, and resolves alcohol toxicity. It also treats halitosis caused by stomach-heat, foul breath from throat caused by lung-heat, and jaundice with bitter taste in the mouth. Regular consumption improves hearing and vision, opens orifices, and enhances intelligence.
Herbs: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, must be authentic Yinzhou variety, 2 liang, sliced, soaked in nearly half a sheng of boiling water together with Mutong for one to two nights, juice extracted and added later to the paste); Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, sliced, washed, heart removed, dried); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1.5 liang).
Except for herbs requiring separate grinding and addition later, all other herbs are pounded, sifted into fine powder. Take 2 jin of high-quality honey, boil once or twice until bubbling, then add powder of Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) and Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), stir continuously. Gradually add the previously extracted juices of Mutong and Chaihu, slowly simmer into a paste, ensuring it does not burn. Then mix in the remaining herb powders to form pills the size of pea seeds. Each dose is 20 pills, chewed and swallowed with warm water, or swallowed whole without chewing. For deficiency-labor with irritability and heat, wasting-thirst, and palpitations/fright, take with Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction). For cough with bloody sputum, epistaxis, and hematemesis, take with Maimendong Tang (Ophiopogonis Decoction, prepared by removing the hearts of Ophiopogonis Japonici Rhizoma), taken after meals and before bedtime. Only for metrorrhagia, lower bleeding, and various lin syndromes, take on an empty stomach before meals. For treating lin syndromes, take with Cheqianzi Tang (Plantaginis Semen Decoction).
