Treats adults and children suffering from wind obstruction with phlegm-heat, irritability in the heart and diaphragm, restlessness at night, delirium and madness, red eyes, epistaxis, dry mouth and sore throat, and resolves heat toxicity.

Qianbaishuang (Lead White Frost), Longnao (Borneol) (each 3 fen); Yanxiao (Saltpeter, calcined until dry, 3 liang); Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 1 liang); Hanshuishi (Calcitriton, powdered, 32 liang).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use rice paste to make pills the size of a bullet. For each dose, grind half a pill with ginger-honey water and swallow it; fresh cold water is also acceptable. For children, divide one pill into five doses, taken after meals.

Treats men, women, and children with guest-heat in the stomach, bleeding gums with bad breath, swollen and ulcerated gingiva with occasional pus and blood discharge, heavy eyelids, hunger accompanied by irritability and loss of appetite, red and swollen painful eyes that cannot tolerate cooling medicines, sores in the mouth and tongue, and swollen and painful throat. It can also be taken after the eruption of sores and rashes. Furthermore, it treats dampness affecting the spleen and stomach, with stasis-heat accumulating internally, or jaundice caused by the interaction of damp-heat due to overindulgence in alcohol and food, or sexual exhaustion. Symptoms include swelling of the body and face, chest fullness and shortness of breath, irregular bowel movements, yellow and obstructed urination, and intermittent fever. All these conditions are treated.

Pipaye (Loquat Leaf, brushed to remove hairs), Ganshudi Huang (Dried Prepared Rehmannia Root, cleaned of soil), Tianmendong (Asparagus Tuber, de-centered and baked), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed and stir-fried with bran), Shanyinchen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba).

Equal parts of the above ingredients are ground into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with one cup of water until reduced to 0.7 cups, strain, and take warm after meals and before retiring. For children, divide one dose into two servings, adjusting according to age.

The syndromes treated and the formulas are found under the category of Shanghan (Cold Damage) / Zhongshu (Heatstroke).

Treats insufficiency of Kidney Qi, heat in the Bladder, obstruction of the urinary pathway, dribbling and incomplete urination, small volume but frequent voiding, urgent pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, episodic onset, urine resembling bean dregs or gravel, cold lin syndrome with discharge like paste, or hot lin syndrome with hematuria. All these conditions are treated. (Another formula is seen later.)

Chifuling (Red Poria, 6 liang), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, de-radicle), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw, each 5 liang), Chishaoyao (Red Peony Root, de-radicle and chopped), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, each...).

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with one cup of water until reduced to 0.8 cups, take on an empty stomach before meals.
