(This prescription was compiled by Tao Hongjing into the *Daozang Jing*. It records: At that time, a person's mother had contracted a wind-pathogen disease in her youth, which later developed into spasms, knots, pain, and bi-syndrome. Despite numerous treatments over many years, she did not recover, remaining bedridden for fifty-plus years until her flesh wasted away, leaving only sinews and bones. She obtained this prescription from a lay Buddhist practitioner, prepared it according to the formula, and took it daily. After consuming more than five hundred doses, her illness was suddenly cured, white hair turned black, and lost teeth regrew. At eighty years old, her complexion resembled that of a twenty-year-old, with strong sinews and bones, sharp hearing and clear vision. An old servant boy often stole her medicine. In deep winter, he wore thin ge cloth, walked on frost and snow without showing signs of cold, and carried loads heavier than usual with agility like flying. People suspected he was possessed by spirits, beat him to death, and buried him in the sand by the water. Long afterward, strange occurrences continued. Local custom stated that when servants died, their shanks should be broken to prevent movement. They dug him up, broke his shank, and found the bone solid and golden-yellow; breaking his arm revealed the same result. Tao Hongjing said: If this servant had not been beaten to death, he would have become an Earthly Immortal.)
