[Ruxiang Xuanjing Wan (Frankincense Meridian-Propelling Pill)]
Indicated for hemiplegia, numbness and stiffness of the extremities, and painful joints caused by the invasion of wind, dampness, cold, and summerheat due to physical deficiency, where the four pathogens interact. It is also indicated for chills and fever gradually developing into Hong Kong foot (podagra/gouty arthritis), spasms and pain in the limbs with wandering pain throughout the body due to liver and kidney deficiency, internal injuries from sprains or falls, and irregular menstruation in women. Regular use promotes blood circulation, relieves pain, tonifies deficiency, and strengthens sinews and bones.
Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fructus, processed by stir-frying after cutting), Qianniuzi (Pharbitidis Semen, stir-fried), Wuyao (Linderae Radix, woody part removed), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, washed to remove sand, stir-fried), Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white pith removed), Bibi (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, skin and tips removed, baked), [Text fragment: Wu, likely referring to Wujiaopi/Acanthopanacis Cortex or similar], [Text fragment missing].
Pulverize the above ingredients into a fine powder. Make pills using wine paste, sized like wu-tong seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, administered with salt water or salted wine at will; for women, administer with vinegar water.
[Huantui Wan (Leg-Swapping Pill)]
Indicated for deficiency of the three yin meridians of the foot (Liver, Spleen, Kidney) invaded by wind, cold, summerheat, and dampness, leading to spasms, bi-syndrome, flaccidity, and weakness. The pathogenic factors attack upward to the chest, hypochondrium, shoulders, and back, and downward to the feet and knees, causing rheumatic Hong Kong foot, difficult walking, burning sensation in the soles of the feet, shortness of breath and panting, and loss of appetite.
Yiyiren (Coicis Semen, stir-fried), Shinanye (Araliae Cordifoliae Folium), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, radix removed, soaked in wine), Bibi (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, lightly roasted), Chuanniuxi (Cyathulae Radix, radix removed, soaked in wine), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma Praeparatum, [text fragment]), [Text fragment missing], Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, [text fragment missing]).
Pulverize the above ingredients into a powder. Make pills using flour paste boiled in wine, sized like wu-tong seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, administered with warm wine or salt water at will.
[Dasheng Baoming Dan (Great Sage Preserving Life Pill)]
Indicated for all wind diseases in men and women, characterized by deficiency of both qi and blood, imbalance of yin and yang, sudden apoplexy (stroke), rigid lying posture, unconsciousness, excessive phlegm, tremors, loss of consciousness, stiff tongue and aphasia, limb traction and deviation, facial paralysis (deviation of mouth and eyes), paraplegia or hemiplegia, confusion of speech, and numbness of the four limbs. It is also indicated for epilepsy with falling down, closed eyes, excessive phlegm with sound, opisthotonos, upward staring of the eyeballs, and locked jaw. Furthermore, it treats wind attacking the yang meridians, causing dizziness, headache, tinnitus (cicada-like sound), skin twitching, frequent yawning and somnolence, inability to turn the head, as well as kidney wind deficiency, pain in the feet and knees, difficult walking, unilateral migration of wind pathogens, and inability to flex or extend the joints, which are otherwise incurable.
This formula is identical to Dasheng Yili Jinwan (Great Sage One-Pill Golden Pill) mentioned previously.
Pulverize the above ingredients into a fine powder and mix evenly. Combine the medicine with the specified ink juice. Divide each liang (approx. 37g) of powder into six pills. Dry them in a sealed container. Coat with gold foil. Take one pill per dose. Grate half a liang of fresh ginger (with skin) to extract natural juice. Dissolve the pill completely in the ginger juice. Warm half a cup of pure wine (without ash/additives) and mix with the dissolved pill. Take warm. Depending on the patient's tolerance to alcohol, drink an additional 1-2 sheng (approx. 200-400ml) of warm wine to assist the medicinal power. Then, cover with blankets and lie down until sweating occurs. For mild cases, take half a pill per dose, without time restrictions. For chronic wind diseases, regular use is especially beneficial. It tonifies the five zang organs, consolidates true yuan (original qi), unblocks joints, expels wind pathogens, strengthens sinews and bones, promotes blood circulation, and preserves youthfulness.
