[Shunqi Shuxiang San (Regulating Qi, Atractylodes and Costus Powder)]
Indicated for men and women with deficiency of qi and blood, long-standing accumulation of yin-cold in the interior that fails to transform, condensing into masses, resulting in distension and fullness of the heart and abdomen, stabbing pain radiating to the chest and hypochondrium; or chronic spleen-stomach deficiency with internal injury from cold foods, leading to urgent diarrhea, abdominal pain, and borborygmus; or chronic dysentery with pure white stool, occasionally passing dark green or black stool. It also treats phlegm-fluid retention in the epigastrium, vomiting with acid regurgitation, stuffiness and obstruction, anorexia, heaviness of the body, and sallow complexion; as well as chronic cardiac pain. Administration can permanently eradicate the root cause of the disease.
Ingredients: Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, Clove) not exposed to fire, Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, Costus Root) not exposed to fire, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), each 1 liang; Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) roasted; Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, Green Tangerine Peel) peeled; Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, Tangerine Peel) peeled; Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Prepared Lateral Root of Chinese Monkshood) processed, each 2 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Add Sharen (Amomi Fructus, Cardamom) 8 qian. Use ginger juice and wheat flour paste to form pills. Each 1 liang of powder yields 20 pills. Take one pill per dose. Take a piece of old ginger, size of a thumb, cut it open like a box, place the pill inside, wrap in wet paper, and slow-roast for the duration of cooking a meal. Remove, discard the paper, chew thoroughly with the ginger, and swallow with warm water. Pregnant women should not take this. For children, divide one pill into four doses. For the elderly and children with food stagnation, this medicine is invariably effective without damaging the zang-fu organs.
[Heqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder)]
Indicated for dysfunction of qi ascending and descending, vomiting, nausea, chest diaphragm stuffiness, and hypochondriac fullness; as well as injuries caused by alcohol and improper diet, belching with acid regurgitation, irregular bowel movements, sallow complexion with emaciation, and anorexia. It also treats stabbing pain due to blood and qi disorders in women, and all types of cold qi pain, effectively treating these conditions.
Ingredients: Dingxiang Pi (Caryophylli Flos, Clove Bark) not exposed to fire, Suosharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus, Round Cardamom), Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, Galangal), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, Cinnamon Bark), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, Dried Ginger), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) honey-fried, Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, Costus Root) fried, each 3 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose. Decoct with 1 sheng of water, 3 slices of fresh ginger, and 2 jujubes until reduced to 0.8 sheng. Take slightly warm at any time. Alternatively, add a little salt and take with boiling water. Regular use soothes the middle, regulates qi, harmonizes the stomach, and promotes appetite.
[Jianghe Wan (Ginger Box Pill)]
Indicated for disharmony of the spleen and stomach, qi stagnation in the Zhongwan region, retention of old cold and fluids, undigested accumulations, abdominal distension and fullness, vomiting of sour fluid, splenic pain, irregular bowel movements, and decreased appetite.
