Consume rhinoceros horn (Xijiao) ground in water, or consume one qian of antelope horn (Lingyangjiao) powder mixed with water. Alternatively, consume seven slices each of raw and cooked garlic (Dasuan); within a short time, recovery occurs through vomiting, diarrhea, or hematemesis.
For symptoms of headache, irritability, neck stiffness, tremors, and nausea:
Take two sheng of fresh pig urine and one sheng of yellow wine; extract the juice, stew, and administer orally. Recovery occurs upon sweating.
For sudden apparent death with abdominal qi movement sounding like thunder:
Take one liang of sulfur (Huangqi) and five qian of saltpeter (Yanxiao), grind into fine powder, divide into three doses, decoct in wine, and stop when smoke is perceived.
Take five liang of apricot kernel (Xingren), one cup of yellow wine, and three bowls of water; decoct and administer orally. Recovery occurs upon sweating.
Take fruits offered on the spirit table (whether fresh or dried), and consume them for immediate recovery.
Whenever exposed to wind, a point of intense itching appears between the thighs, scratching continues incessantly, gradually spreading over the entire body. While sitting, the body sways forward and backward as if unsteady. This is caused by evil spirits possessing the patient, leading to dissipation of vital essence, known as "Gui Zhu" (Ghost Tethering). For those suffering from cold stagnation, it is called "Shi Zhu" (Corpse Tethering). For those with abdominal distension and yellow complexion, it is called "Shi Zhu" (Stone Tethering).
Decoct and drink the pillow used by the deceased for recovery through severe purging. (The pillow must be returned to its original place; delay may cause madness.)
For conditions causing aversion to heat, dripping discomfort, silence without knowing the source of pain, universal aversion, leading to death after prolonged duration, and transmission after death:
Take fifty peach kernels (Taoren), grind into a paste, decoct in water, and administer frequently to induce vomiting.
For sudden apparent death with faint pulse movement and closed qi:
Insert powder of Acorus tatarinowii (Changpu) into the ears and nose. Alternatively, shave a square-cun area of hair from the left temple of the patient (same for males and females),
(grind and sieve finely), mix with hot wine, and administer orally. Alternatively, insert scallion white (Congbai) into the lower orifice and both nostrils.
Blow powder of Realgar (Xionghuang) into the nose, or crush two qian of ink and take with water, or hold Acorus tatarinowii juice (Changpu) in the mouth. (Refer to the section on Poisoning First Aid).
Wear Realgar (Xionghuang) on the head or tie it under the armpit.
When sleeping, place one shoe upside down and the other right-side up to prevent nightmares.
Do not use fire to illuminate.
Quickly take dust from the roof beam and insert into the nose. Or blow powder of Sophora flavescens root (Zaojiao) or raw Pinellia ternata (Banxia) into both nostrils to induce sneezing. Or take two qian of soot from the pot bottom, mix with water, administer orally, and also blow into the nose. Or, in the dark, bite hard on the heel and big toe, frequently call their name softly, spit on their face, and then administer ginger juice soup. Or apply moxa cones (Ai) for 3, 5, or 7 sessions on the hairy part of the big toes. All methods are acceptable.
