The lower abdomen feels urgent and distended, with pain in the urethra as if cut by a knife.
Decoct *Pogonatum japonicum* (Wasong, 瓦松) into a concentrated decoction to fumigate and wash the lower abdomen for two shichen (four hours), which will immediately restore patency. Alternatively, cook walnut meat into porridge; consuming it frequently is effective. Or crush fresh scallion bulbs with salt, apply the paste to the umbilicus, and the sand will naturally pass. Alternatively, boil ancient copper coins in water and drink it (also treats Qi Lin / Qi Strangury). Or use chicken manure (white variety), dry it in the sun, stir-fry it into powder, and take two qian with boiled water, twice daily. Or use the ash from a fever of an unmarried boy, take one qian per dose, washed down with well water. Or decoct the roots and leaves of maize (Zea mays, also known as Baogu) and drink it frequently. Avoiding table salt in this condition leads to better efficacy.
Slice radish, soak it in white honey for a short while, then bake it on tiles until dry. Repeat the soaking and baking process three times (do not burn it excessively). Chew it slowly with salt water, taking it several times a day.
Another method: Decoct the root of the sunflower (*Helianthus annuus*) in water, boil it for a few boils, and drink it immediately (do not boil for too long); it is very effective. Or decoct five qian of *Cannabis sativa* root (Jiamagen, 家麻根) in water and drink it.
Take fresh *Asparagus cochinchinensis* (Tianmendong, 天门冬), pound it to extract half a zhan of juice, and drink it. Alternatively, cook winter melon with fermented soybeans (Dan Douchi, 淡豆豉) and eat it; three to five times a day for seven days leads to recovery.
Take three scallion bulbs with roots, one piece of ginger, one qian of salt, and more than ten grains of fermented soybeans. Pound them into a cake, heat it, and apply it to the center of the umbilicus, binding it tightly. After a while, when qi flows freely, it cures. If not relieved, reapply; it is effective. Alternatively, stir-fry salt until hot, fill the umbilicus with it, and burn moxa five times to promote flow. Or take old ginger about one cun long and as thick as a finger, wrap it in paper, warm it in fire, take it out, dip it in sesame oil, and insert it into the anus. It takes half a day at fastest, or one day at slowest to relieve constipation (do not underestimate this).
Take two liang of sesame seeds and five qian of good tea leaves, grind them together into powder. Take two liang of *Rheum palmatum* (Dahuang, 大黄), mixed with warm water to drink. Or take a large pinch of peach blossoms, mix with half a bowl of boiling water, and drink. Fresh ones are better; they can be picked and dried in the shade for later use.
Have the patient sit on a bucket and fumigate with smoke from burning *Gleditsia sinensis* pods (Zaojiao, 皂角). Or grind male rat feces into powder and insert it into the umbilicus.
Use tofu that has not yet been pressed in a cloth bag to extract the milk. Stir-fry it until it turns dark yellow, spread it to cool, and take three qian on an empty stomach each time, three times a day. For blood that appears purple-dark, mix with white sugar before taking; for blood that appears bright red, mix with brown sugar. Even for patients in critical condition or suffering for many years, it is extremely effective. Alternatively, pound mulberry bean leaves, mix with hot wine, strain the dregs, and drink one bowl, two to three times a day; it can save critically ill patients. Or pound water chestnut (*Eleocharis dulcis*, Biqi, 荸荠) to extract juice, measure two wine cups, mix well, and drink; recovery occurs within a few days.
