Take silkworm cocoons that have just emerged from the pupa, fill them with raw alum (Mingfan, 明矾), grind into fine powder, and apply externally to the affected area.
Smoke the room with tea smoke produced by burning tea leaves.
Alternatively, mix white honey with boiled water, and frequently dip a goose feather in it to apply.
One qian of Ruoye Ash (Ash of Rhynchosia Japonica Leaf), half li of Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香), taken orally with warm yellow wine.
Chew one or two grains of Cornus officinalis Fructus (Zhuyu, 吴茱萸) and rub on the affected area; this will immediately open the blockage.
Frequently sprinkle buckwheat flour. Alternatively, use black soybeans, grind into powder, and sprinkle; or wash with decoction of Loquat Leaf (Pi Pa Ye, 枇杷叶). Or apply white ash made from burning cattle dung collected in the twelfth lunar month. Or bake dried thatch grass used for roofing roofs for many years, grind into powder, and sprinkle.
One liang of Hawthorn Fruit (Shanzha, 山楂) (stir-fried and ground into powder), five qian of Arnebia Root (Zicao, 紫草), three cups of yellow wine; boil until one cup remains, divide into several doses, and take mixed.
Drink decoction of Prunus Gum (Taojiao, 桃胶), or boil with water to form an ointment, dissolve in yellow wine, and take.
For dense pox: Four qian of Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai, 黄柏), boil to make a concentrated juice, apply to both eyes with a brush with loose bristles; increase concentration daily until the eyelids are sealed. Alternatively, chew Chinese Madder Root (Yanzhi, 胭脂) to extract juice and apply to eyes; or mix White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi, 白芥子) powder with water and apply to the soles of the feet to guide toxins out through urination and defecation.
Epimedium Herba (Xianlingpi, 仙灵皮) and Clematis Root (Weilingxian, 威灵仙), equal parts ground into powder; take five fen per dose, washed down with rice soup. Alternatively, grind Chinese Olive (Qingguo, 青果) with water and apply.
Eat more Water Chestnut (Biqi, 荸荠). Or soak pig trotter claws/nails (burn nails to ash), filter the soaking liquid, and drink. Or dry rabbit feces, grind into powder, take one qian per dose, mixed with tea juice.
Five he of Sesame Seeds (Zhimazi, 芝麻), soak in boiling water, fumigate head and face while hot. Or decoct cat feces (preferably those dried and white on tiles) in water and take orally. (Both methods listed together)
Wash with warm water from Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) decoction.
Clean and crush olive pits, dry them with kernels, grind into fine powder, store well in a porcelain bottle. Whenever "Water Closure" days occur consecutively (refer to almanac for details), pick up two or three teaspoonfuls of powder, add a little sugar, mix with boiling water, and take multiple times; the pox will not erupt, or if they do, they will be sparse. Also eat white pigeon eggs to permanently prevent pox eruption (and also resolves carbuncle and pox toxins).
For cases where pox reaches seven or eight days without forming pus/plasma: Catch three large toads alive (those with red bellies are best), wrap their bodies and claws in cloth, leaving only the heads exposed. Hold the toad so its mouth faces the mouth of the patient with pox, for about the duration of a meal. Then release the toad. Repeat with a second toad using the same method. Using several such toads will cause plasma to rise naturally; this is extremely effective.
