To treat wind pathogens, where toxic qi attacks the waist and legs, penetrating into the bone marrow, causing pain day and night.
Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), Shudi Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) (each 3 liang), Zhike (Bran-fried Aurantii Fructus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Ganjiang (Pao-processed Zingiberis Rhizoma) (each 1 liang), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Digupi (Lycii Cortex), Niuxizi (Arctii Fructus) (Zhi-processed, 5 liang).
Finely chop the above herbs, place them in a raw silk bag, immerse in 2 dou of clear wine within a porcelain jar, seal tightly for seven days before opening. Drink warm, one small cup per time, three to five times daily, maintaining a slightly intoxicated state, until recovery is achieved.
To treat Zou Zhu Feng (Roaming Wind). The symptoms include painful swelling of both feet, or pain in only one foot, making walking difficult; the site of pain migrates without fixed location; dizziness and confusion of the head and eyes; pain may occur in the left hand, right hand, a single finger, or a single toe; there is only one point of pain that is unbearable, suitable for taking this prescription. If the condition does not improve after taking the first formula, add 4 qian of other herbs, along with 3 qian each of Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen) and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), totaling 7 qian as one dose. The painful area often appears reddish; in severe cases, redness covers the whole body. The pathogen may attack the neck and shoulders, bind the lower back and back, flow down to the feet, or attack the chest and hypochondrium. The leg bones and tibia are thin, but only the knee joint is swollen. After taking this medicine, evil blood may break out from under the fingernails or toenails at the painful sites, or be discharged from the nose; only then can the disease be eradicated. Bai Hu Feng (White Tiger Wind) is also treated with this same prescription, and recovery follows ingestion. However, patients suffering from Bai Hu Feng often dream of four-legged animals such as cats, tigers, sheep, and cows, or dream of children, women, or girls offering flowers, jade ornaments, fruits, and food to them. This illness is very similar to Zou Zhu Feng, but in severe cases, green stool is passed. Both conditions are suitable for taking this prescription.
Duhuo (De-lumed Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Aw ei (Ferulae Resina) (mixed with a little flour into a thin cake, baked dry on fire and pounded into powder, each 1 qian), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Dahuang (Rheum Palmati Radix) (Chao-processed), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (Su-zhi-processed over twenty times, pounded and used, weighed half liang), Shexiang (Moschus) (half liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (washed with hot water, 1 fen), Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen) (take the finest powder, 1 liang).
Separately pound Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos) and Yelangdu (Stemonae Radix) into powder. Separately pound Qianniu and Banxia into powder. Mix all other herbs together and pound into powder. For each dose, take 0.5 qian of Yuanhua and Yelangdu powder, 1 qian of Banxia and Qianniu powder, and 1.5 qian of the mixed herb powder, totaling 3 qian bi (a traditional measure). Take as one dose, mixed with scallion decoction before retiring to bed.
