Treats wind-cold injury (Shang Feng) causing cough, accompanied by fever, sweating, aversion to wind, and a floating pulse. For patients with internal heat who have failed to respond to Xingzi Tang (Apricot Seed Decoction), this prescription is stable and appropriate.
Take the above ingredients as one dose. Add two bowls of water and five slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until one bowl remains. Take at any time without restriction.
Treats dampness affecting the five zang organs, resulting in cough with profuse phlegm, upward qi rebellion with rapid breathing, heavy body pain, and a soggy-thin pulse.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 3 qian) Baifuling (Poria Cocos, peeled) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, scalded seven times) Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum, each of the above 2 qian) Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried).
Take the above ingredients as one dose. Add two bowls of water and five slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until one bowl remains. Take at any time without restriction.
Treats conditions caused by emotional depression, worry, excessive thinking, anger, or joy, combined with irregular eating habits (hunger or overeating), leading to disharmony of zang organ qi. Symptoms include cough with pus and blood, gradually developing into Fei Wei (Lung Atrophy/Withering), increased aversion to cold, fatigue, and progressing toward Lao Zhai (Consumption/Tuberculosis).

Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Ziwanrong (Asteris Radix et Rhizoma, hairy part) Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each of the above 1 qian) Suosha (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) Ying Susuo (Papaveris Capsula, remove inner membrane, process with ginger juice).
Take the above ingredients as one dose. Add two bowls of water, five slices of fresh ginger, and two Chinese plums (Wumei). Decoct until one bowl remains. Take well after meals.
Treats cough caused by cold invasion, with lung qi rebellion and rapid wheezing.
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, joints not removed) Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, skin not removed) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw) Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, each 2 qian).
Take the above ingredients as one dose. Add two bowls of water and three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until one bowl remains. Take well after meals. If there is throat pain, add a small amount of Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas) after decoction.
Another variation removes Jingjie and Jiegeng, using Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) instead.
Treats wind obstruction, resolves phlegm and saliva, benefits the throat and diaphragm, clears the head and eyes, stops cough, and eliminates irritability and heat.
Hanshuishi (Calcitum, calcined until red to remove fire toxicity, washed with water, 30 liang) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed with boiling water, ground to fine powder) Bai Fan (Alumen, calcined, ground fine).
Grind and mix evenly. Bind with wheat paste to form pills the size of sophora seeds. Take 30 pills per dose after meals, delivered with light ginger tea.
