Treats pediatric colds in all four seasons, wind-cold invasion, generalized fever, and various types of convulsions during the "bianzheng" (developmental fever) period, as well as heat syndromes such as fetal convulsions and erysipelas; it is also suitable for acute and chronic convulsive disorders.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 2.5 qian) Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, washed) Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus, stir-fried) Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed) Quan Xie (Scorpio, detoxified, 2 qian each) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried) Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 1.5 qian, ground separately)
Grind the above ingredients into powder, then mix with Zhu Sha (Vermilion/Cinnabar), grind again until extremely fine. Take half a qian per dose, decoct with half a cup of water for several boils, add a small amount of dried Carthamus flower (Gan Yan Zhi), boil once more, and take warm at any time.
Treats pediatric jing gan (convulsive malnutrition), indigestion of milk and food, internal accumulation, large abdomen with small body, alternating tidal fever, five-palm heat, rubbing fingers and biting nails, spontaneous passage of roundworms, cervical lymphadenopathy, intermittent abdominal pain, generalized skin sores and scabies, turbid urine like rice washings, night sweats, pica (craving dirt or charcoal), preference for sweet foods, malaria or thirst, vomiting or diarrhea, or within/after one hundred days due to swallowing foul blood, causing colic, stabbing pain, and crying. Due to spleen deficiency and susceptibility to injury, various diseases arise; this formula is suitable for all these conditions. Regular use eliminates retained food, breaks qi stagnation, and disperses furuncle toxins. Do not doubt the crude nature of the herbs. Although Ba Dou (Croton Seed) is feared, it should not be excluded from use. The Spleen governs the central region and is the origin of all growth. Accumulation in the spleen affects blood nourishment and qi defense; if complexion becomes dull, what disease would not arise? Repeated use has proven effective; do not harbor other doubts.
Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus, 108 seeds, remove heart and membrane, arrange pairwise without losing any grain, soak in Agarwood-infused water; removing heart, shell, and membrane requires precise refinement; impurities hinder efficacy as shells injure the stomach and the heart induces vomiting) Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 1 liang, remove white pith, cut into pieces the size of a fingernail, mix with Ba Dou, expose to morning dew for seven nights, stir-fry in two pots over high heat until black, remove Ba Dou and drain all oil) Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, remove coarse skin, 6 qian, decoct strongly, soak in Rhinocerotis Cornu water, dry under sun for seven days, lightly stir-fry in pot, then grind together with Ju Pi into fine powder, add Ba Dou powder, and grind again into fine powder)
Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix evenly, bind with paste made from steamed wheat cake soaked in water, form pills the size of radish seeds. Adjust the number of pills according to the child's age and size. Take before bed with Ginger Decoction.
