The poem states:
Zidian (purple macules) and Baidianfeng (vitiligo) are generally caused by Wind pathogen; Mercury (Shuiyin, 水银) and Calomel (Qingfen, 轻粉) yield the most successful results.
Crush fresh ginger to obtain its natural juice; a single application will make the lesions disappear without a trace.
Treatment for Vitiligo (Baidianfeng):
At dawn (Pingdan), use your hand to collect dew from the roots of Chinese chives (Jiucai, 韭) and apply it to the affected area; this is extremely effective.
For white patches spreading on the head, neck, and face, gradually growing like tinea (Xuan, 癣), but without any sores:
Take one eel (Manliyu, 鳗鲡鱼); roast a plump one until the fat renders out. First wash the white patches, then rub them with an object until they feel slightly painful. Subsequently, apply the rendered fish fat. It heals in one application; even severe cases heal within no more than three applications.
For emaciated lower legs resembling reed stems, with only the knees remaining thick, making walking difficult:
Use Xiao Xuming Tang (Minor Continuation of Life Decoction).
Prepare dried Papaya Fructus (Mu Gua, 木瓜) by cutting it into pieces, do not add fresh ginger. Decoct in water. Place a small amount of Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香) at the bottom of the bowl first. Strain the decoction and drink.
Subsequently, add Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder) and decoct together to take orally; this ensures permanent recovery.
Another prescription uses Cortex Ulmi Japonicae (Zijingpi, 紫荆皮) decocted with aged wine; take warm regularly.
Treatment for various Wind disorders:
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month at noon (Wushi), cut dry leaves of Xanthium Fruit Folium (Canger Ye, 苍耳叶) with a knife. Wash, sun-dry, crush, and sieve the powder. Mix with wine to form a paste-like consistency. Take one Fangcunbi (a measure equivalent to one square inch) as a dose, administered three times daily as a powder. If nausea or vomiting occurs, mix with honey to form pills; take ten pills per dose, equivalent to the volume of one Fangcunbi. For mild Wind conditions, administer twice daily.
If Wind manifests on the body, appearing as millet-grain-like bumps emerging from the skin, or like hemp/mung bean-sized nodules, this indicates Wind-Toxin. These can be punctured with a Pi needle (a surgical knife/needle) to drain yellow fluid until completely exhausted.
Collect abundant leaves on the fifth day of the fifth month, dry in shade, and store in large jars for later use. This herb repels evil influences; those visiting patients or seeking to alleviate illness may consume it to instill fearlessness. If seasonal Qi is disordered, the whole family may take it. For stomachal distension, chest oppression, and fever, take it; it also eliminates the "Three Worms" and intestinal hemorrhoids, promotes appetite, and is beneficial if taken for a year. Leaves harvested on the seventh day of the seventh month or the ninth day of the ninth month are also suitable.
Another method uses the fruit: stir-fry until fragrant, crush to remove spines, soak in wine, and drink to dispel Wind and tonify deficiency.
Yet another method takes one hundred jin of tender leaves, chop and crush them, mix with five sheng of wheat flour dough to form blocks. Place these blocks among Artemisia argyi (Ai, 艾) and mugwort for twenty days until they resemble fermented starter (Qu, 曲). Take one dou of rice, steam it into cooked rice. Depending on temperature, add the Xanthium-wheat Qu. Brew into three da sheng of wine. Seal for twenty-four days until mature. When drinking this wine, cover with two layers of cloth but do not seal completely tight to allow overflow; do not consume with horse meat. Drinking it warm on an empty stomach is excellent.
